Back to Evolution
Here I am with the first part of this week’s “Let’s Listen to”! The subject is the latest work by the visual kei band Jupiter, precisely the 7th single, named Theory of Evolution and released today. This single is the first one released with the new singer Kuze, former vocalist of bands like Concerto Moon and Screaming Symphony, who substituted Zin after his departure occurred last year. And now... let’s review!
-Theory of Evolution: the single is opened by the title-track, featuring an epic and strong tone, fitting with what we heard from the band so far; the melody is well driven by the guitars, in their best virtuosism possible, and the drums, where the vocals are fiery and incredibly intense, more than what we could hear from Zin, giving to the song a peculiar and compelling touch. ---> 9.5/10
-Bring me out: the first b-side features a more extreme and faster style, with sudden and strong guitar turns and a compelling rhythm; Kuze’s voice is strong and rapid, well accompained by the bass lines, empowering the whole melody, building up a suggestive and catchy tune, with a notable technique. ---> 9.5/10
-Angel’s Wings: the single ends with a surprising song, kicked off by fast notes and engaging guitars, accompained by a dynamic drumming, pivotal element of the whole song; Kuze goes on with an awesome screamo, bringing out his inner rage in a powerful and majestical interpretation, which is articulated in the three tempos of the song, where the second one sees clearer vocals and brighter notes and the final one ends the song with all the possible virtuosism coming out from each musician, for a great metal masterpiece, which we can name Kuze’s Sacred Altar. ---> 10/10
Final Vote ---> 10/10
Jupiter has always been an acclaimed band since its debut, especially because of a great line-up, led by an emerging singer named Zin, who showed to be really talented, the main reason why their first album Classical Element is still their best work to date. Then after the golden prologue, the things went down year per year, starting from The History of Genesis, which quite lacked the epicness and technique seen previously and after few singles, the band decided to experiment a fusion with metalcore music, whose result is named Tears of the Sun, an enjoyable mini-album of its own, despite several defects. After this test phase, Zin departed from the band, starting a new solo project, and so the band, composed by Hizaki, Teru, Rucy and Daisuke decided to go on with a new singer, a really experienced one. Kuze has been a surprising choice for the band, which now has elevated its style to the level of Western metal scene without any doubt, in a powerful and unique single, where each track is compelling and refined in each part, with the virtuosism we always loved from them and above all, Kuze’s unique skills, which make us asking when will come out a full album with his voice and this incredible sound, we are waiting anxiously for this. A single for who didn’t know to need Jupiter’ majestical music, with a new and more experienced vocalist.
And it doesn’t end here...
