This car park has been demolished since this photograph was taken, posting it as a reminder of things that have been lost to new developments.
Spanish architect’s office Barozzi Veiga were asked from Bündner Kunstmuseum (Chur, Switzerland) to create a new wing for the building. It officially opened on June 22, 2016, with the exhibition “Solo Walks. Eine Gallerie des Gehens”.
The new museum has cubical appearance with a characteristic concrete grid on the facade. The 4,000 square meter extension is located alongside with the Palladian Villa Planta, its location create contrast and emphazise the two buildings styles. Both structures are connected by basement levels and present a central symmetrical plan, using geometry as a tool for cohesion.
