...the holiday edition sounds good to me
For us, Christmas isn't a day, it is a season where we make a special effort to be with the people we love. We've already had one Christmas get together because one of our children will be working on another continent Christmas Day.
My favorite holiday shows are "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and "It's A Wonderful Life". I usually watch Emmitt Otter's Christmas, which was a favorite of my sister and brothers.
Little people make Christmas. I have been lucky enough to be able to spend most of my Christmases with little people, my siblings, our children, nieces and nephews and now with our grandchildren. Kids, and chaos, that makes Christmas for us.
My guy and I got married just before Christmas. Our wedding pictures were taken in front of a Christmas tree. We decorated our cars with tinsel, our flowers were red roses and pine, and it even smelled like Christmas!
Our Christmas tree is decorated with ornaments we had has kids, ornaments the kids made when they were small (including a large collection of hot wheels cars hung with paperclips), and stuff collected along the way. One year I bought myself, my brothers & sister a Kermit the frog ornament that plays the guitar and sings "The Rainbow Connection". We always have a working toy train around our tree.
My Guy has a tendency to go overboard shopping for Christmas. As our kids got older they have tried unsuccessfully to get Dad to ratchet that down. My sister told us to just accept that there really is a Randy Claus.
Merry Christmas! and a happy holiday season to everyone and remember to share your gifts with those around you every day, not just at Christmas.
... thank you and Merry Christmas concussedperspective for the gift of your blog! It is helping me get past a couple of hazy confused Christmases to hopefully making a few more Christmas memories I can keep.

Hugs honey!!! I hope your head isn't too horrible! I'm just a message away!!
thanks! I think the worst part is probably my emotional response to it so I'm trying to work on that. I am thinking I should skip my cousin's going away partying tomorrow because it's a giant thing outside that is bound to be bright and loud and busy and generally difficult. Which is really sad because she is one of the few people who gets it and is going away for a year but yeah I don't want to make thing worse than they need to be. Concussions are awful

Sending you some positive vibes your way Angie!!!
Thank you love, I really appreciate it <:
Hey, saw your post about your friend's friend playing soccer. I totally agree with you! Brain injuries are super serious and people who don't think they are should trying living like you and I do for one day. I got my concussion a year and a half ago and just like you school is super hard for me and my whole life changed. I hope that someone says something to that coach because it is people like him that are causing life long battles with brain injuries!!!!
Exactly. It sounds cliched, but you really can't understand what having a long-lasting brain injury is like unless you've experienced it yourself. There are good side effects of having this and I try very hard to stay positive as much as I can (for instance, I've been learning very valuable lessons about having to slow down, be patient, and take care of yourself. I've always been a million-miles-an-hour person, and have always hated feeling like I'm not giving 100% in whatever I'm doing, so it's been good for me to learn how to take things slow when I have to and not feeling guilty about it.) But honestly, despite the good things that have come of it, this has been a truly horrible experience and I would much rather it had never happened. And to have people say things like that it isn't all that serious... ugh. I've even had people tell me I'm lucky because I take naps so often and am currently not in school. Grrrr.
Both my mom and my best friend's mom are planning on saying something to the coach, because they're both furious over his actions. The only thing is, he got a serious lecture from my mom several months ago about not knowing enough about concussions to keep his players safe... and then he pulls this stunt anyway. (In contrast, the coach for my select team flat-out refused to play one of the girls who'd been concussed about a month earlier, because she had a headache. And while my varsity coach was visibly annoyed at me deciding not to come back, my select coach told me that while he would miss me, he thought it was a very wise decision and that since it had been my third concussion, he would have been extremely nervous every time I went on the field anyway.) His whole problem is he's too obsessed with winning. He's always been bad about pressuring injured girls to play, but what he did with that concussed freshman is inexcusable :(
Anyways, thanks a bunch for this message! It's always really comforting to be reminded that I'm not alone in this situation :)
