Girl, how do they get your hair so pretty and blonde? Like, how did they lift it and also what's your root maintenance like?
I dye my hair myself, I HATE other people touching my hair and taught myself how to take care of it and got it the way I want it with meticulous research and practice. I don’t necessarily recommend this because it’s HARD and takes time (it took me years to figure out how to really do it the way I wanted it) and commitment, but it can be done. My dyeing regimen is boring to write out, but the important thing is DON’T DO IT TOO OFTEN, wait at least 6 weeks between touching up roots, and get a mixing bowl, because it’s nearly impossible to do at home without one. More important than the dyeing itself is the maintenance between dyeing; I use a purple conditioner (Theorie) and NEVER EVER EVER use shampoo on my hair now; it strips color and makes your hair brittle; if you MUST use shampoo use a dry shampoo every few days, but conditioner will get most negative residue out of your hair without stripping it. I use a shower brush with silicone bristles and brush my hair out with it every time I condition it. I DO NOT LET WATER TOUCH MY HAIR more than 3x a week. I use Bumble & Bumble’s Primer hair prep spray; a priming spray is MANDATORY for bleached hair. I use a wet-style brush in my hair, you cannot use normal-style brushes on bleached hair as it’s brittle from being stripped and is much more prone to breakage than normal hair. I braid my hair to keep it untangled when I sleep. That’s the cliff’s notes of my hair maintenance.
