Not just confidence but confidence in CHRIST 👑 Isaiah 41:10 #confidence #confidenceinchrist #jesuschrist
A view from the top of #BlarneyCastle... I say “a view” because there were literally millions to be had up there. Different angles. A mass of color and sky. Structures built, with nature mingling in quiet corners. And something as slight as a shift of the wind and tilt of camera could change it. It’s so like how we see ourselves—one encounter, one misstep, one tilt of our confidence can affect how we accept the person in the mirror. I recently told a friend the truth about one of those views I’ve battled since childhood—attacks on self-esteem—and I’ve struggled ever since. It’s candid. Ugly. And something I don’t talk about often. It’s this quiet war waged away from view—color and tilting cameras behind the scenes. The combination of a public vocation, introvert personality, and shifting confidence don’t make for a sure view all the time. Getting up on a stage? Terrifying at times. Putting work out to be reviewed? Terrifying. Social media? Making missteps with who we are and what we say and how we represent Christ? Terrifying. Walking away from one definition of who you are for another, remembering the old you that’s been replaced by another in the years since... all terrifying. But I want to be candid about the view while we’re here, because I know I’m not alone. I know I’m not the only woman out there who doubts the view the world sees of me. And I’m open because—it’s not about the me the world sees, but the Who I battle to show them instead. It may be a battle waged out of others’ view, but it’s one Christ is fighting for me. Getting up on a stage in His Name? Terrifying, but I can do it. Putting work out to be reviewed? Terrifying, but I can do it. Social media and missteps and completely new definitions of who we are? Absolutely terrifying, but I can do it BECAUSE OF JESUS. And you can too. Whatever view you see today... Whatever quiet war is being waged... Whatever tilt of the mirror and angle of the self-lens... Let it reflect a little of His grace. Because His view from the top isn’t tangled in defeat; it’s dominated by a million angles of victory just waiting to be captured. #confidenceinChrist #selfesteem #breathelife #authorslife #ireland (at Blarney Castle)
