Hey, thanks! My husband is a Navy officer, so one of the things I appreciate about Stargate is how they get the military stuff exactly right most of the time. And if you watch the show, it's clear that Jack IS intelligent and everyone around him knows it, that he just plays dumb for the sake of a joke here and there; and he doesn't have a ton of patience for all the minutiae and science, because he doesn't want the why or the how when they're in the field, he just wants the what. But fanfic authors so often don't pick up on that and they don't do their research about military officers' education requirements so they write him as a thick-headed jock and it just bugs me. So clearly I have a lot of Jack-is-smart feels too.
