“I might have…angered a few of the locals.” Five usually didn’t feel much remorse, especially considering all he had put up with for quite some time, but this felt different. After everything, he was starting to normalize himself with his surroundings once more. “I didn’t mean for anybody else to get hurt—I’m so used to things just happening around me, but this…I don’t know…I didn’t mean for innocent lives to be put at risk.” It was an entirely new Five, at least compared to how he was when he first arrived back in the present day. He kew he was working on it.

“I want you to take some responsibility Klaus!” Diego spoke suddenly and almost offhandedly as if out of some sort of line, something that would have come into play were Reginald still alive. Being in that damn house always brought back a sense of reversion to how they used to be treated, and Diego felt an anger coursing through him over it. It wasn’t something he enjoyed dealing with, but as he looked to Klaus, he merely added, “You’ve got your whole I can see dead people, can you at least try to be useful?”

It had been an entire ordeal in the bar, something that Diego would defend Klaus with to no end, and yet, he knew there was more there that the other was hiding. There was something that Klaus just wasn’t saying. With a short sigh and a hesitated glanced over to his brother as he settled back into the seat of his car, he left one hand propped against the back of the seat as he looked over him. “What’s really going on. This is not you. Since when do you go and pick fights with people?”

there's a loud thunk as number five's brow creases and the blade of his knife digs into the restaurant table. the eyes of his siblings swivel towards him and he forces on a smile, strains to keep his voice even as he says: " i have to take care of something. i'll be right back. "

before they can protest, five gets up and weaves through the tables, beelining for the door. the moment he's outside, he jumps through space -- landing seated on the lamp post above the cluster of the commission's men.

he doesn't realize he's been followed ( by klaus, of all of them ) and swings his legs, clearing his throat. " can i help you fine gentlemen? "

as their guns swing towards him, he sighs and continues on conversationally. " i suppose that's a yes. i'm afraid i can't help you right now -- i was enjoying a nice meal with my family, you see, and i do intend to finish it. "

" mr. five, we can't just leave and come back tomorrow. you have to come with us. " one of the men insists with a tone that demands no resistance -- which would be effective against anyone else, really.

five's expression curls into a grin, and there's a pang of satisfaction in his chest as the men shift backwards uneasily. he hasn't lost his touch.

" oh, don't worry about that. you won't be coming back. " he blinks out of existence just as the men fire.

Can We Leave?

“Yeah... yeah we can leave.” 

This was not the Klaus Allison had expected to meet when she first saw the string of texts he’d sent her. It had been early in the evening and a relatively quiet night at the Academy, mostly for the fact Klaus hadn’t been there- a blessing she heard one of her brothers mutter as they’d passed her by. She’d been planning on staying in herself. Maybe catch up on the actual day job she did have that she’d been avoiding for the past few days. But then her phone had lit up with the first string of incomprehensible emoji hieroglyphs - a wine bottle here, a megaphone and some confetti there- and again and again until something in the back of her mind, something old and something she had put far behind her had said ‘fuck it’ and reached for the jacket she’d hung on the back of her bedroom door. What good would it do her to stay in, where there was really nothing for her except for memories and the lingering phantom of their dead father within its walls? And after the fifth text she’d become less mildly annoyed at them and like everything Klaus did, found it a little amusing.

It had taken her a few phone calls to get a hold of where her brother had run off to and to make out the slurred words among the heavy bass and voices trying to be heard over the music, Klaus’ own being one of them. It took even longer to find him in the crowd when she finally did arrive. But when she managed to spot him among the bustling crowd of people pressed shoulder to shoulder on the dance floor, all of the fun, emoji spamming Klaus had seemed to have disappeared into thin air. She had no idea what had happened in the half hour it took her to get there. And one thing was for sure, Allison hardly ever saw the Klaus she was seeing now. She offered him her hand, hoping he would take it and hoping again they could get out without her being noticed.
