Some more Guard headcanons

Blake's father and grandfather fought in the hundred years war alongside Joan of Arc

He has a TON of old military and army stories. He's basically a soldier version of Xavier

Ben is the WORST at keeping secrets and keeping his cool when interrogated. The most common thing said to him is "Nice going, Ben."

Lonnie is Stan's cousin

Lamar is French, and has trouble with English. The guards sometimes have to help him with English words

Conli is still part of the guard, but he's recovering from a really bad concussion. He's working with Xavier to make swords and getting physical therapy with a doctor until he's better

Roy is ten years older than Pete

Pete, Stan, Dave, and Lonnie were all trainees when Cassandra came to the castle. Some of their first few missions was looking after her

Kyle has a goatee because he wanted to look as cool as Flynn Rider

Rodney's family is from Russia

Dave is a HUGE foodie. Every Sunday, all the guards will go to the cafe together just to eat and hang out together and watch Dave eat a whole roasted turkey

Dave once killed a man just by sitting on him

Roy is happy that his little brother has a romantic partner, but he doesn't wanna hear anything about it aside from Pete being happy

But imagine the literal impact he would’ve have if he were in the show. I feel like Roy would have to be there and they would need permission, and tht would be time consuming etc., etc...

He was a great part of the movie though...

You know my opinion on Eugene being captain, but what are your thoughts on how the guards are portrayed; specifically, as the "bumbling idiots" you said earlier? Do you think it works, or would you have written them differently?

I'd have written them differently. On the whole, the movie portrays the guards as extremely competent. Eugene is particularly skilled at giving them the slip, and that's a character trait of his, not theirs.

And I'd have included Conli in the series.

In the movie, we had Conli the guard, any idea where he'd gone in the series?

No canonical answer to this. lol I have no idea why they'd take out the one guard with a name (while also giving Pete a similar appearance). Now, it's possible that they were attempting to imply that Pete is Conli - full name Pete Conli, since Conli was named after producer Roy Conli - but there are enough dissimilarities in their appearances that I don't really buy that.

Conli the Guard seems to be a bit of a caricature of Roy Conli (but with hair and blue eyes, and notably younger), and while Pete's eyes are blue, they're not the same bright blue as Conli's, more a grey-blue. Also, his hair is notably long, sticking out the bottom of his helmet. (Which makes one realize that there's not a standard haircut for guards.) Also, Pete has freckles where Conli has none.

Besides which, I'm pretty sure I've found the guard Pete was modeled after, along with Stan.

Anyway, all of this is a long way to go to say that I don't know what happened to Conli. XD

Given the headbutt that poor man suffered I wouldn’t be surprised if Conli is in the medic ward for most of season 1.

I mean, he's seen later in the movie as on of the guards taking Eugene to the gallows.

Maybe after Eugene's escape, he quit. XD

In Tangled: Ever After, the guard who says “the kingdom is lost”, is that Pete because I think he looks like him? Also, I love that bit in the short. I burst out laughing every time I watch it. When Arianna says “theose were my grandmother’s wedding rings” and then the kingdom blows up. 😂

No, that's Conli, the same guard who guarded the Stabbingtons in the Snuggly Duckling.
