“You’re still up? It’s late. You should have gone to bed hours ago Alois.” The Countess was one to speak, for she too had stayed awake. However this was the norm for her as she tended to walk the halls late at night and not retire until much later on. How long has it been since she had received the news that her beloved child had returned the manor? It has to he have been months or more now. 

How had she found out her son was still awake? Isabella had found it strange that a light was on in one of the rooms at the end of a hall. It was not a bed chamber, so she had decided to investigate. “Could you not sleep? Or were you so curious that you wanted to see what was in here?”

Spotting blonde hair brushing through the gardens, bouncing along excitedly. Eyebrows furrowing, confused as to why Alois was here - had Ciel invited him without such permission or told him first? The more worrying thought it where the others servants and Butler were.

“I’m not crying,” he insisted, rubbing at his eyes with the cuff of his sleeve, as if it didn’t just make the lie more obvious. He didn’t expect to get homesick so quickly, if at all. This was supposed to be his home now, but he couldn’t help missing the place he’d grown up, the comforting presence of his mother - and he couldn’t deny in that moment that was what she was to him, adoptive or not - and the other children around him. The Trancy estate felt cold and empty in comparison and, despite how tired he was, he just couldn’t sleep, instead spiraling into melancholy.

“It’s... ’m fine, really. Just... need to get used to it all, ‘s all,” he murmured, avoiding looking the other boy in the eye.

The crimson-haired woman tensed immediately upon hearing the child’s inquiry. It’s an automatic red-flag to hear one not even know what a doctor is. Even worse when it’s someone Alois’ age. That means the blond before her isn’t receiving adequate care at home. Why would their caretaker withhold him from medical examinations and whatnot? What is there to hide? This concerned Angelina greatly. Her painted lips curved downward slightly, her brows furrowing. Before speaking, she swallowed heavily.
