Surrounded by meadows and evergreen forest with the spectacular views of mighty Himalayan ranges, Chopta not only attracts Indian but International tourists and trekkers all round the year. Chopta is the base camp for various trekking destinations like Tungnath and Chandrashila. The third temple of Panch Kedar is located in Tugnanath, around 3.5 km away from Chopta. Camping in the open grassy meadows of Chopta that slopes on softly, among alpine, pine, deodar and rhododendron trees is soul-fulfilling. The snow-covered peaks of Trishul, Nanda Devi and Chaukhambha dominate the panoramic views seen in Chopta. Chopta is also known as “Mini Switzerland”,located at an altitude of 2700 mts, in the Rudraprayag District of Uttarakhand State. It has a pleasant climate during May - July and September - November. Snow fall starts from November and remains till March. Chopta is also connected from major destinations of Uttrakhand state as buses for Rishikesh, Haridwar, Rudraprayag and Srinagar are available from Delhi ISBT Kashmiri Gate.
