"“We wanted to explore the history of American fashion, since [the Met’s exhibit] is basically about Americana,” says McPhee. “There’s such a diversity of people and cultures that make up America, so instead of the top hats and tailcoats of the Gilded Age, I wanted my look to be a celebration of casual Friday—where you get to dress down and present yourself more casually.” McPhee’s take on casual Friday style included a classic workwear button-up shirt and jeans, but there was more than meets the eye. “Most people don’t know that my shirt and my jeans are actually made of fine leather,” says McPhee. McPhee’s red opera gloves also gave the ensemble a more avant-garde, red carpet-worthy feel. “We wanted Kodi’s Met look to be a tribute to classic Americana, tying in the red, white and blue color theme.” ... “The Cartier jewelry added the perfect amount of extravagance, while also tying in the Gilded Glamour theme,” says Eng.
