Hi there. Before you start reading this post, I want you to know that I am approaching this very objectively due to the fact that, much like you, I am an elitist, cynical asshole, but in a very different manner. (You got rid of your ask and submit, so I'm going to post it here for you.)
I completely understand your idea of why it is "morally" correct to be a vegan, but there is absolutely no logic behind it. I'm not exactly sure how you could forget that we live in an elitist society where other animals don't even compare intellectually or socially, but humanity and natural selection has made it that way. We kill and abuse animals, sadly, for purposes unnecessary, but if we do stop killing and abusing animals--what changes? Congratulations, you've made a moral revolution for animals, but nothing has changed except for a way to obtain food. This "moral revolution" would only happen when humanity and society decide that animals are equally leveled to humans (which will most likely never happen).
Not to be offensive of a religion (that you might believe) in any sort/way, but I believe that there is probably no god. And if there is a higher being, he's doing a shitty job, or he made everything, then just walked away (but there is absolutely no proof for that). This means that our only purpose in life is to live. Everything that lives lives to live. Now, if I'm going to live a life that honestly serves no purpose other than to live and to help other people live, I might as well be as gluttonous and supportive of "rape" as I want. And I don't feel bad--because nothing matters except survival, and I am probably a sociopath. I guess that means I'm going to a non-existent hell.
And if you think about it, using your logic, you support rape, abuse, and murder as well. By wearing clothes, or walking on cement paths, or paying for your taxes--anything that you do--someone up that line has eaten meat, and that makes you as supportive of them as they are supportive of rape, abuse, and murder. And there's no way to avoid it unless you strip nude and live in a place unaltered by humanity. I don't think you'll last.
Oh, and I also think I am better than you. I am more intelligent, and, in my/society's understanding of morals, more humane, and more emotionally stable. Survival of the fittest, no matter what it takes.
