SolarHood Loredump: Connie MacKesson
Drew an updated version of Connie MacKesson. She's a crazy conspiracy theorist who lives in an anarchic libertarian stronghold hiding out from Holden Bloodfeast's assassins.
She's a direct descendant of former US[1] President Hugo MacKesson, who led the coalition to defeat the powerful rogue AI known as the "Great Basilisk" many thousands of years ago and founded the longest-running political dynasty in the history of the United States. The MacKessons lost all their political power in the US after the Uniparty's[2] ascendancy and were later driven out of the country completely when the Uniparty government began sending assassins after them.[3]
Connie herself was born and raised in the lost American colony of New Georgia.[4] It's quite a dangerous place, but perhaps the safest for a MacKesson. Connie married and had two sons, but her whole household got killed by Uniparty assassins who infiltrated New Georgia. Since then, she has laid low and only hung out around people she trusts.
[1] - The United States, as stated in other loredumps, is one of two Earth-nations that managed to maintain most of its original national identity after the Fall of Sol, so much so that its citizens still identify themselves with the "American" demonym even though Earth, and by extension the region of America, has been conquered by Zrout. The United States was simply too big to fail.
[2] - The Uniparty, formerly known as the United Moralist Party, is a group that functions more like a secular religion than a traditional political party. Uniparty adherents worship the President of the United States with a saint-like reverance. Many believe the President is ordained by God, or in certain cases, that the President is a god himself (like the Uniparty's founder, Derek Slaughter). They also view cruelty as a symbol of strength. The current President and de-facto head of the Uniparty is Holden Bloodfeast, a man from New Texas belonging to a race of failed super-soldiers known as the Texarkans. The Uniparty's platform upholds the ideal of an Earthling/Texarkan-supremacist state, free from the burden of international entanglements.
[3] - The Uniparty satisfies its base through performative displays of cruelty, usually through openly and publicly employing smear/humiliation campaigns and/or state brutality against perceived political rivals, which could either be dissenting politicians, protesters, or just anyone on the street who looks wrong. The Uniparty's voter base falls for it every time, and mindlessly cheers on as masses of innocents are sacrificed for their amusement. Fuck it, you already know exactly what I'm basing these guys off of. I intend for the Uniparty to be a comical exaggeration of the MAGA movement (which will be hard because the MAGA movement already feels like a parody of itself) by portraying it as an American version of whatever the fuck Elagabalus had going on in Ancient Rome. I'll go further into detail in a later loredump probably.
[4] - New Georgia was one of the first interstellar American colonies, but a few years into the Uniparty's leadership, there was a bloody insurrection that resulted in a loss of all contact from the star. The Uniparty regime, already terrified of the prospect of war due to their vehement isolationism, responded by sending only one naval squadron and one squad of Guardians (lead by Holden Bloodfeast) to deal with the issue. After the Guardians' retreat and the loss of the squadron, the Uniparty made no further attempts to pacify the star and President Derek Slaughter simply lied to his constituents and told them the situation was under control. This lie is still believed by the vast majority of Uniparty faithful, even though all travel into New Georgia is banned. New Georgia became a stronghold of anarchists and marauders, and is generally unsafe for pretty much anyone. Since the beginning of Holden Bloodfeast's presidency, more Guardians, spies, and assassins have been sent to New Georgia in an attempt to pacify the system.
