QUICK UPDATE (The Lost Ones Spoilers) [Dec 11]
OK OK I’M SORRY I said I was going on hiatus again but I HAVE to talk about The Lost Ones really quickly and get a few things out of my system;
There’s an antidote to the ink! (Well, at least a temporary one, as Brant explains.) This means that the “anti-ink demon” bottle Audrey is holding in her figurine for BATDR could be just that! (Constance never got to leave the machine, but maybe someone else had a similar line of thinking?)
SCOTT. I noticed how Scott’s insistence on the whole “there’s no escape” thing started sounding a lot like the Lost One in Chapter 4. “He always finds me” might have some proper context now, and this Lost One might have a name after all!
There was a shadow of Boris in one of the tunnels, so I’m guessing TLO took place relatively soon after Buddy’s transformation (1946)
I like how Bill and Brant had remorse and fear in response to the ink’s effects, but when Constance started feeling the effects of the ink she was like I want to kill everything in the world
I’ll be honest I almost died reading this book. I love Adrienne Kress’s writing but I literally didn’t need to know any of this
I love how there’s this repetitive and unspoken buddy system in JDS where a relatively young guy works with his assigned dilf at all times and then dies
