Across from the shops in the previous post are these rather groovy clothes shops, a NZ tourist shop and another cafe.
It is something different and a good way of keeping people in work and bringing money back into the city. It is always full of locals and tourists taking photos. The department store Ballantynes is open at the end of the road, and beyond that you have the cordoned off Red Zone. Sometimes (mainly at weekends) a door to the Red Zone is opened to the general public to go in to Cathedral Square to see the devastation and progress - this afternoon it was closed. A crane was working on one of the buildings, taking it down bit by bit.
