Defining Content Hierarchy

The Content Hierarchy setting determines the number of content levels that appear in the Table of Contents.

Select the maximum number of hierarchical content levels. For example, if you select 4, you can only add four levels to the table of contents.  The table of contents may contain up to six levels, with the highest (root) level as the course and the lowest level as the lesson.  

Select the Include Learning Object Level in Lesson checkbox to add the Learning Object level in the lesson. The learning object is a lesson object that lets you group sequences, which are objects that contain tasks and informational elements. For more information, see Working with Lesson Objects.

Use Post-it notes to work out content hierarchies

Post-it notes are handy for all sorts of UX tasks.

They are particularly handy when working out content hierarchies for responsive design projects. 

One each Post-it note down a particular content area (or page feature/ functionality) and then order them by importance in one column to get your final hierarchy for small screens.
