In this installment of the #MarTech101 series, we take you through the concept of content experience.
Ever wondered why shopping malls are designed in a certain way? The floor plan, space management, lighting, window display, and furniture placement are designed considering consumer psychology and how they navigate the mall. A prime example is — the food court.
You may have noticed, the food court is usually located on the top floor of a mall. If the food court were placed on a lower floor, customers would not be enticed to shop first and would possibly leave directly after their meal. But when the food court is upstairs, they shop their way through the many levels of the mall. By the time they reach the top floor, they are famished, thus end up placing bigger orders.
Similarly, perfume stores are usually placed near entrances to attract more prospects into the shopping mall and to enhance their mood as they walk in. Mall architecture is structured to make sure you experience the overall environment in the best way possible.

Content marketing holds a prominent place in a B2B marketing strategy, but developing a solid B2B content marketing strategy is not enough. To really wow your audience, you also need to consider the experience your content enables.
In this article, we have carefully put together a six-step framework to build and deliver winning B2B content experiences. Let’s jump in!
Step 1: Research Your Audience and Competition
If you haven’t already created a content marketing strategy, it’s the right time to get started. The first step in creating a B2B content marketing strategy is to research your audience and competition.
Develop multiple buyer personas that represent different levels of your target audience. Understanding your buyers and their purchase journey will help you deliver better content experiences.

Want to break through the content clutter and shine in the spotlight? Here are five content marketing trends to prepare you for 2020.
Trend #1: Live Video Will Continue to Dominate
Digital Marketing World has predicted that by 2021, 13 percent of all internet traffic will consist of live video. And that is just one chunk of the whole video gamut. With almost every major social media platform now supporting live video streaming, it is only expected to soar in 2020.
Scott Gifis (President, AdRoll) comments, “The live-streaming industry is expected to be worth more than $70 billion by 2021. As it continues to soar in popularity, live video or podcasts is your chance to let new customers see your business in action or learn from your expertise live and direct. Facebook live is a great source for this as well as Instagram and Spotify.”
Trend #2: Content Will Be Tailored Around Long-Tail Keywords
The rise of conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) — digital assistants and chatbots — has changed the search landscape. We know that by 2020, 50 percent of search queries will be voice searches.
Google’s Hummingbird update encourages conversational, semantic phrases rather than using typical keyword phrases. So, rather than searching for ‘top marketing automation software’’, one might search for ‘what are the top marketing automation solutions for SMBs?’

Analyzing the Brand Content Management Vendor Landscape
Days, when brand management and content marketing were separate disciplines, are long gone. Digital marketers project their brand promise, expectation, personality and values in every piece of content they publish. But content is also distributed and modified by employees and business partners. Marketers now have the possibility to maintain control and compliance through digital marketing technology, writes, Peter O Neill Research Analyst, Independent.
I’ve been getting many inquiries on my recent research around brand content management. Not always about the matrix and vendor scorecards, though that has certainly created quite some debate, but more about the “name itself”. People ask, “why to create a new software application category called brand content management?”
Well, firstly, I am not creating any software application category. That is not what I am doing with my research. I try to consider the world from the business practitioners’ point of view and name their most important business process, or perhaps a family of processes. Why? Well, because that is how business people actually plan their automation projects and look for suitable software or SaaS suppliers. So, when we run our surveys, we discuss the process first and then discuss the vendor's practitioners work to improve that process in their company.
