Bad news: My laptop is beyond saving. It's shuffled off its mortal coil. Joined the choir invisible. Pushing up daisies. You get the idea.
Good news: I got a new laptop.
Bad news: I won't be seeing my order for a little while, so it'll be at least four or five days before I can get another deconstruction post done.
Good news: To make up for the lack of new content, I decided to release some concept documents for the Redux ahead of schedule. Consider this an act of repentance. I'm gonna leave it up to you guys to choose what content you want to see early. I have idioms/expressions, orthographies (alphabets, syllabaries, abugidas, etc.), constructed language family charts, samples from constructed languages, and cultural/character trivia. Feel free to either reply directly to this post or shoot me a message, and let me know what content you're most interested in seeing.
I updated the dev plan yesterday! We’re making progress again.
Don’t already have MVSans? Download him here!
So I released dev build v1.4.11 recently that tidied up the advanced audio settings. A stable build will be out soon, probably will announce next weekend.
The next set of phone calls are really, really big. Currently there are 6 phone story events released in MVSans, so the next installment of 6 events will double the amount of story! I’m chipping away at it though. ;)
In this menu it’s insult or be insulted.
Unlike the original menu options of asking to receive knock-knock jokes, or asking for advice where it’s one day, you’ll be able to choose an insult to tell Sans, or ask him to insult you! It’ll be like the flirting except give you more agency in what you choose to say.
Some of the insults can get really, really mean though, so the main complication in this feature is a way to content filter certain kinds of insults, so as to not seriously upset anyone. Some people don’t mind fat jokes, for example, but for other people it can be actually triggering on a bad day and I want to respect that.
But hey, the most important part of adding the Insults prototyping... Take a look at the main menu.
The “Tell Sans” section are all menu-based ways to raise your User Traits, as opposed to his 4 hit boxes with identical correspondence:
Sweet (Advice, Head petting)
Rude (Insults, Face poking)
Silly (Knock-knock jokes, Ribs tickling)
Naughty (Pickup lines, Bonezone groping)
Having equal opportunities for all four traits means I can properly balance them, and will finally be able to work on balancing the Sans Feelings half of the Relationship System!
I’m excited!!!

The United Isles of Izora are an archipelago of islands, separated by inlets, formed in a distinctive crescent shape. These islands are Fonn, Solarra, Maris, Doone, and King's Island - which contains Crescent City and its surrounding settlements. Altogether, the islands themselves are roughly 300 miles from the southern tip of Maris to the northernmost black beaches of Fonn. As Crescent City is situated in the middle of the crescent (hence its name) all regions are accessible by boat within a few days' sailing. It would take no more than 1 week of untroubled sailing to circumnavigate Izora by ship. Easily defensible by sea, and lined with imposing mountains, Izora has enjoyed centuries of relative isolation from neighboring states.
CLIMATE
For this reason, though there are some regional differences, the weather is relatively similar throughout the United Isles. Izora experiences a temperate oceanic climate, with four distinct seasons. Most areas of Izora consist of lowlands, highlands, and mountains (the great exception being the flat expanse of Doone). Snow is common at the highest altitudes, and areas of Fonn especially would be considered taiga and are covered in permafrost.
Regional climates may vary, but generally, The United Isles are mild, wet, and windy. Eastern areas are drier, cooler, and less windy, and also experience the greatest daily and seasonal temperature variations. Northern areas are generally cooler and wetter and have slightly larger temperature ranges than southern areas.
With some challenges out of the way, it’s time for another character preview! This one is for a canon character on site, and one who’s in a position to interact with just about everyone! Continue below the Read More for a snippet of his application.
One Job
You had never intended to work for the government or any subsidiary of it, such as the United Nations. It rarely ended well for you, and the last time a similar project had been approached, you had merely been placed as a figure head to sooth those who were pro-abnormal among the employees and higher ups. You doubted that this 'ISIT' would be any different and so, at the first offer, you declined. You kept an eye on them, ready to tear them down like you hadn't done quickly enough with SCIU, but they held true to their course.
When Lilian asked a second time, you still said no. She could see you starting to waver, though, and rather than fill the position, she waited you out. Within two weeks, she asked again. No. Two weeks, again, no. The third time should have been the charm, but you were stubborn; it took a fourth request to get you to resign yourself to the position. You expected to be met with a whole host of regulations and checks intended to keep you in your place and keep them in full control, but you did not find it. Instead, you found yourself given more freedom than any employer had ever dared offer someone as bright as you.
You clamped down on the bit and ran with it.
The Taskforce has flourished over the years you've been in charge, and its rather a point of pride if you're to be honest. You are strict with your employees, insisting on being in the interview process for each and every one to ensure they meet your high standards (which, really, are just you trying to ensure they're here for the right reasons; you could care less about their other qualifications). It leads to long days, longer nights, and very little chance for rest, but as much as you complain, you wouldn't have it any other way.
So, we’ve leaked all the main information for the site at this point, from required reads (like the rules and member groups) to the world-building non-essentials (like the institutions that you don’t technically have to interact with). We’ve reached soft open, which is running more like a beta than anything. But the full opening is still a week away, and we figured.... why not leak more site content that’s being generated? So, we’re going to do our very best to get you a snapshot of applications, shippers, and so on every day or two until next Thursday when you can see it all yourself!
(Or, you know, you could join the soft open and see it now. Just saying.)

something borrowed,
When you walked down the aisle, you came prepared with all the various wedding traditions. After everything that had happened, you needed this to be good and right. You needed this to stick. So you loaded yourself up with everything you could find:
A sugar cube in your glove, even though all you wanted to do was take it out and eat it from the stress.
Six pence in your shoe, even though it kept floating to the toe and stubbing with every step.
Bells attached to your bouquets, in an effort to keep bad spirits away (because there were a lot that seemed to follow you around after Old City).
You did not see your to-be-husband beforehand, even though he tried effortlessly to make this happen because he wanted to kiss you good morning.
You made him pinky-promise to carry you across the threshold after, because that would keep even more evil away. He laughed at you for this, but pinky-promises were always serious for you.
You prayed for rain on your wedding day, hoping it would cleanse the darkness, and you jumped for joy, nearly breaking your delicate high heels when you heard the thunder crack even from the depths of building you were sequestered in, with your bridesmaids getting you ready.
You even followed the old adage: something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new. It hadn't all been easy to come by, honestly. You sort of fell a little short, in the end. You figured, these days, your carefree smile of your youth (or, well, younger days — you were still barely nineteen) was so hard to come by that the way you grinned and flitted about, that had to count. You were borrowing something from you.
