Ratings are:

E -- Explicit

M -- Mature

T -- Teen and up

G -- General audiences

Please refer to the [guide on AO3] for further info but note that I do require a rating. Not Rated does not apply for this event.

Miss Mab's Censorship Pandas

I spent a chunk of time this morning hunting down those web ratings pandas that appeared on so many sites back in the Web 1.0 days. Surprisingly hard to find with a modern search engine! I was pleased that the original artist’s website is still up, even though she hasn’t updated it in a long time.

Warning: This post dicusses the concept of unsavory artwork and mature ratings! You do not have to read this if you are bothered by these!

If I do create any unsavory stuff and put it on my FurAffinity or DeviantArt, I will ALWAYS put it under a Mature Content Rating, whether it be a questionable drawing or bizarre fanfic. 

I am aware that minors might be present on these sites, so I’m not going to risk them stumbling across my weird s**t. 

I am also aware that a lot of people may be triggered by some of the funky stuff, so I will ALWAYS tag it as such. For example, if the art involves a  t h i c c  version of a character (ex: Invader Zim because I’ve seen that kind of art), then I will tag it as such.

Obviously, I won’t post any of that malarkey here on Tumblr (you know, because they pretty much banned everything).

immediately after netflix auto-skips the maid-sama opening for the umpteenth time: bro: someday soon i’m going to go to netflix headquarters and ask them if they know what fear means. me: powerful. bro: what? no. look at the rating. TV-14: fear, language. what the heck does fear mean? me: so you’re not mad about the opening? bro: i never said that.

Rating my stuff for content confuses me, especially sexual stuff. Like, does explicit mean straight up porn or has at least one sex scene or what?

And what if it's plot driven? Like not explicitly meant to get you off? (though of course your welcome to if it does lol). What if there's description of sex but no mention of genitalia, bits,etc? Like, if I say dick, then it's explicit but if I just describe pinning down, then it's not?

I know what I look for when I'm trolling for wank material of course, but my stuff really isn't that as such. I feel like if I tag like that or mark it as explicit then I'm letting people down for it not being sexy enough.

What do you all think? Can you point me to fics that describe these scenarios, as tag and rating examples? (I don't care about fandom or triggers/kinks, I'll look at anything). Or maybe look at my explicit and mature marked stuff and tell me if it's accurately tagged or not.?

bonus question: do the same rules apply to drawings? because I want to do a few of these as comics/manga pages too, both "explicit" and not.
