SO SO.. this is Prosaic/Mosaic!! The Shelly design for this silly. Magical girl au I have that doesn't have a name yet. Oops. Currently she's the only one designed for the au. But I already love her to death.
While the same person, she perceives each form differently.
"Prosaic", her normal form, she sees as bland, uninteresting. Unexciting and unappealing to others, intentionally being designed with dull, non eye-catching colors, aside from her trinket, which is what gives her the power to transform. Shes quite self conscious about this form, due to feeling like a problem, feeling her raw self and emotions must be filtered in order to be valued and approved by others. She's not shy, but is awkward.. her being undiagnosed and not getting the help she needs. Her patterns are uneven and splotchy, not symmetrical and mesh into a mud of samey ness, and a lack of any claws or animalistic features to match with how she feels flawed in this form. She's at least more comfortable talking about her own feelings and interests in this state...(There's an alternative version with scars but I won't share that here lol)
"mosaic", her magical form, meanwhile, is the embodiment of what she wants to be. Mixing herself with her fixation, dinosaurs, while also smoothing out her 'imperfections'. All her patterns being cleaned up, her getting big sharp claws. her colors swapping from two color ranges to being all over the place, eye-catching, much more saturated . Much more little details to look at, and much elegant like mosaics are. She feels confident, on everyone's level in this form, yet only talks about what others 'approve of'. She wants and needs to be an example for others in her mind. She mustn't make any mistakes, must keep people's perceptions of herself positive and not strange.
This transformation, while fascinating, isn't so easy. Every time she goes into her magical girl form, she's so happy, so joyous.. but collapses the second she gets back.. it's mentally and physically exhausting to keep up with everyones wishes .. it makes her feel like CRAP doing this. Acting like someone she's not. But. She'd do it, shes gotten herself so dependant on the reward that. She doesn't care the toll that it'll take on herself .. she wants to be accepted so bad.. and.. if this was gonna the way, shed risk it all than to lose it.
