Generally, bloggers put most of their valuable time in writing and often overlook the factor which is the ‘readability of the content’. The term ‘content readability’ defines the level of ease to understand any written or printed text. The article which has better content readability, always make its readers stay longer on that page, because the readers can easily read the whole content and understand the meaning of it.
The following techniques will help to improve the readability of your content.
This one is the most important technique to increase the readability of your content. There is no need to use long and complex words when short and easy words are there. When Readers goes through an article, they actually want to get information, not English lessons. If you use difficult and complex words instead of easier ones in your article, the readers might think you are showing off your vocabulary size, which can effect on readability score. Always try to use two or three syllable words when it is appropriate. Avoid using longer words, unless those words are familiar to the readers.
2. Use Short and Simple Sentences
Always try to write simple and shorter sentences. When possible try to break up compound sentences and eliminate all the superfluous ideas. Do not introduce more than one idea in one sentence. It is beneficial for your article to introduce the main idea at the very beginning of each paragraph so that the readers can easily understand the idea.
3. Write in a Conversational tone
This is just a general guideline which can surely help to improve the readability of your content. When you are writing your article or blog posts, try to imagine that you are speaking with someone else in day to day life. You will be able to see the difference between how you have written that article and how you normally write. You can notice that you have used shorter and simple sentences with simple words and this is the benefit of writing in a conversational tone.
4. Use Fewer Adjectives and Adverbs
Always consider whether the adjectives and adverbs, which you have used, are necessary or not. We often use many adjectives or adverbs even when it is not necessary. So please check on that.
5. Check for Grammar and Spelling
Make sure that your content is grammatically correct. If you are writing for professionals or corporates, you need to pay high attention to your grammar and the spelling of words to avoid any errors.
Always try to separate your sentences into different paragraphs as many times as you can. Use headers and sub-headers efficiently in order to give proper meaning to your content. You can also use bullets or styles to emphasize keywords in the content.
