David Fobes @misterfobes "Psychodosus" video installation in the bedroom of one of our flats for "Sensorium". . . . Contemporary art in redefined places. This was a project I curated with Chi Essary, Rebecca Romani, and Tatiana Sizonenko, for Vanguard Culture's "Sensorium” at IDEA1. A new development located in downtown San Diego’s rapidly growing East Village district. The event included visual, performing, and culinary artists, occupying multiple levels of the property, including the ground floor hub, and the rooftop deck. Fifteen empty lofts were transfigured into experiential exhibition spaces, with over eighty visual artists. The event, not only combined the theme of the five senses, but also brought together diverse cultural organizations, groups, artists, and communities, under one umbrella. This spirit of collaboration and accessibility, which is at the core of the Vanguard Culture mission, and one of the reasons I am on the board of the organization, is critical for an emerging arts community to thrive.
