Obstructions

Title: "When the (select a monster here) Takes Hold

Genre: Hammer Horror

Line: "I won't be back but something will"

This film was our first in person film in a year, and was very fun to film, nothing majorly wrong. It could have been stronger but that's more of a personal opinion.

Dislikes:

Liam could have been stronger, but he's not an actor.

Kevin could have been stranger.

We didn't actually follow the brief.

It was a bit rushed towards the end.

More of Bethan.

Had to cut a brilliant Kevin scene.

Likes:

Pip's death scene

Kevin's milk line delivery.

The shadow on the walls for each of the main character.

Bethan's scene was great

Maia's music is amazing

The montage scene is great.

I just wish we learnt what hammer horror was beforehand, and we did a bit more research, a bit more time on the main scene and maybe more Frankenstein and Pip, with Kevin weirdness.

"Right Up Your Abbey" 2025

Obstructions

Title: Choose your own!

Genre: Carry on Costume Drama

Protagonist: must be seen reading a book

Line of Dialogue: “The breaking of so great a thing should make a greater crack” or “In time we hate that which we often fear.”

Added obstruction for previous award winners: a ballroom scene

Special shout out: for any film that passes the Bechdel test

With a historical location, spare larper kit and a new cast members with fantastic costumes, made for one of our best submissions yet.

Dislikes:

Wished we redubbed the audio

Had more time to do a bit more with the girls

Had more time to include jokes about the book.

Wish I wasn't editing. I was so tired.

Likes:

The costumes and hair and makeup

The lines and jokes, Harvey and Alex did a great job

Rayna's return!

Elle did a fantastic job for her first appearance.

Sophie did amazing!

Just a fantastic location.

Even though it was cold, and we're all slightly groggy having a morning shoot it was good fun, but boy was I tired. Noted down, need a separate editor for next year's submission.

Genre: Heist Movie

Line of Dialogue: “Either we're diving into the abyss together or you're paying me to pretend I never saw it”… “—trust me, it's a long way down from rock bottom, but hey, we might as well dance with fear on the way!"

Added obstruction for previous award winners: banana for scale

Special prize: for any film that passes the Bechdel test.

Dislikes:

How rushed production was, we needed more time to shoot at the Junkyard Emporium, but it was busy and it was a football match day, so we had to leave before we couldn't leave the city.

Needed more coverage

Way too many people in production, should have had the basic people there it was busy and a lot of us were kinda sick.

Found ourselves too funny needed to solo down on the joke.

Likes:

Harvey's entire scene could have been the film.

The ending gag.

Sophie's acting is peak.

The intro with the guys was very fun to film.

Overall it's a step forward, We we're kinda tired and missing the point in the last few submissions, built we found a way to step back onto our feet. Minimised production switched from a DSLR to a phone camera and a gimbal. Made life and production easier.
