LuxQuanta Closes €8M Series A to Scale CV-QKD Technology
LuxQuanta Gets €8 Million in Series A Funding to Accelerate Global Cybersecurity Solutions
Series €8M ($9.3M USD) European quantum cybersecurity startup LuxQuanta closed a funding round. This major investment will accelerate mass market adoption and global deployment of the company's Continuous-Variable Quantum Key Distribution (CV-QKD) technology to protect crucial communications in the quantum age.
In Big Sur Ventures' financing round, A&G was the main investor. New strategic investors include Wayra, GMV, and the European Innovation Council (EIC) Fund. Two current stockholders, Corning and GTD, extended pledges. For the idea, LuxQuanta earned a €2.5 million ($2.9 million USD) EIC Accelerator grant in March 2024.
Globalization transition
LuxQuanta went from promising to worldwide with this milestone funding. Building its commercial, technical, and operational teams, increasing flagship system manufacturing, and researching integrated photonics and quantum technologies will be wise uses of the funds. LuxQuanta will expand globally by targeting new European and global markets.
For future research and development, integrated photonics is emphasized as a critical technology, allowing the company to cut costs and enhance scalability to meet global demand for quantum-safe goods.
According to LuxQuanta CEO Vanesa Díaz, the expenditure is a significant step towards protecting international communications. She said the company is committed to making quantum security reliable and cheap for businesses.
LuxQuanta makes products for telecommunications, government, data centers, financial institutions, critical infrastructure, industrial, and energy.
Countering Quantum Threat with CV-QKD
Strong quantum computers could crack encryption systems using “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks, making quantum-safe solutions necessary. LuxQuanta's CV-QKD technology generates and distributes safe cryptographic keys using quantum physics to prevent hacking.
LuxQuanta released NOVA LQ 2 in March 2025. The main system features, designed to integrate with existing optical networks, are:
Security: Uses the well-tested Gaussian-modulated coherent-state (GMCS) CV-QKD protocol, which is secure from collective attacks in finite sizes.
SKIP and ETSI GS QKD 014 interfaces allow multi-vendor encryptor and key management system cooperation.
Supporting P2P and P2MP topologies, it can cut network growth expenses in half while preserving security.
Performs up to 20 dB channel loss and has a high secret key rate (>100 kbps at 4 dB loss, 1 kbps at 16 dB). System can span 100 km.
Strategic Partnerships and Investor Trust
The investors praised LuxQuanta's technology and reputation:
According to Big Sur Ventures, LuxQuanta's combined photonics and CV-QKD technology make it a quantum cybersecurity leader.
According to the A&G Energy Transition Tech Fund, LuxQuanta's solutions are well-suited to safeguard critical environments due to their focus on essential industries.
Telefónica's corporate venture capital branch, Wayra, said the collaboration encourages industry development and strengthens Europe's quantum communications leadership.
LuxQuanta's technology promotes European quantum-safe cybersecurity and quantum-era communications security, according to GMV.
European quantum innovation leadership was encouraged by the EIC Fund's trust in LuxQuanta to lead the worldwide quantum-safe infrastructure transition.
