that was a pretty dismal thing to hear from the person who was currently in the driver’s seat of a car that, now that she thought about it, likely didn’t belong to him. just as a precaution, she moved to hold onto her seatbelt just a little tighter and give a second glance at the airbag to make sure it was still there.

the fancy accent always had a way of getting her in places with few questions asked, but it never seemed to work with the rough and tumble types she had run into now. as if that wasn’t enough to throw her off her game, this... guy had seemed to appear out of nowhere and was talking faster than she could follow, but she had the sense to nod along.
