SacAnime Winter 2018 Meme

Yes, I'm lame as all hell, and I do these memes meant for furry cons, and I hijack them for anime cons. lol (I can't go to furry cons yet, and I like doing these, so I'm gonna do it anyway! :3)

Anyway, yeah, I'll be at SacAnime, in Sacramento next month, so here's a meme thang. :P

Where are you staying? The Sheraton

Who are you staying with? The boyfran. :3

Day of arrival/Departure? January 4th, checking out January 8th

Transportation? Driving lol. I live like 10 - 15 minutes away.

Who will you hang with during the convention? Boyfran, and close friends! <3

How can I find you? Usually I wear my Blitzy badges, and sometimes I'll be walking around in a Spyro kigurumi.

Are you cliquey? Honestly? Yeah. It's because I'm really really shy though, and I'm just more comfortable around friends that I know very well. But I'm open to meeting new people. :)

Will you be suiting? Nope. :( Don't have my fursuit yet. :(

What’s your gender? I'm a girl.

Are you taken? Are you looking for a partner? Yes, I'm happily taken by my boyfriend/partner of 4+ years.

How tall are you? 5 feet

Can I talk to you? Yup! Reminder that I am shy, even at conventions, so don't take offense if I'm a bit quiet. I do enjoy talking about anime, games, furries, etc. etc. though! I love discussing mutual interests with new people. C:

Can I touch you? No. Light hugs are okay if you ask me first though!

Can I hug or snuggle with you? Never. That is reserved only for the boyfriendo.

Can I visit your room? Uhm no. XD That's our private/quiet space.

Are you nice? I try to be and I hope so! Never my intention to be mean on purpose or come off that way.

Will you draw/do badges/do trades? I doubt it. Conventions are actually vacations for me!

Are you going to any panels/shows/dances/competitions? Hell yeah! I spend a lot of time going to voice actor panels in particular. I also always attend the cosplay masquerade. :)

Can I give you stuff? If you'd like??! I'd feel bad accepting it tho. :(

Do you smoke/do drugs/vape? Nope. Yuck.

Can I buy you a drink? Nah, no thanks! I only occasionally drink at home.

Will you be going to parties? Nope. I detest parties.

If I see you, how should I get your attention? You can just shout "Blitzy" or whatever! (Apologies if I don't respond/hear you. Conventions are loud!)

What/where will you be eating? Mostly sushi and pizza is what we feast on at cons. ^^

Can I come with you for food/fun? If you are invited, and are sure to pay for your own food/fun. :)

Can I take your picture? Selfies with friends are ok! :)

Haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd start up my activity again with a meme I just made on my phone. I was thinking about the upcoming Anime Boston and how much money I'm gunna spend. I realized I'm getting hosed on my food purchases. Con food is so expensive and it's just generic food. It never tastes as good as you hoped and the portions are way off from what you paid. So Bear Grylls popped in my head... Better drink my own piss

Convention Meme Days 6-10

6. What convention is your guilty pleasure?

I don't really know? I usually have my reasons for going to all of the conventions I do, and I'm pretty loud and vocal about my love of the conventions. And the ones that I'm not, I wouldn't call them a pleasure. I enjoy some small cons, but I'm not guilty about those, and the small cons I do feel guilty about going to, I get little pleasure out of usually.

7. What is the most relaxing convention you’ve been to? Explain.

In previous years, definitely Yaoi-con. LMAO. I actually wrote in a con review of it once that it was the most chill con I've ever been to. And though last year was a little more hectic and people had some bad stuff go down, it's always been a sort of relaxing con for me. It's the sort of convention where it was perfectly okay to just sit around and watch Law and Order or roll out for breakfast, or just relax. Maybe because it's not in the convention "season" per se, it's a little more relaxed. Even last year, when it was the week after NYCC and I made myself horribly sick trying to complete a costume, I felt perfectly fine wearing only two costumes and just shooting people the rest of the time. ALA is another one like that, though for different reasons (mostly it's just a giant poolside party, so it's not so much relaxing though)

8. What convention do you feel has the best atmosphere? Describe.

Hmmm. It depends on what you mean by atmosphere. Everyone's looking for a different atmosphere. For example, I love Fanime from the bottom of my heart, but someone looking for more industry presence, premiere screenings, big guests and whatnot aren't really going to find that there. NYCC's atmosphere is totally different from ALA's, but I love them both. In terms for newbies, I guess I'll still always say Fanime. With the exception of this year - it was kind of cursed, we'll see if they pull it back together - it's always very welcoming and has a community feel to it, which a lot of conventions sort of lack. 

9. What convention did you used to love but now hate? Why?

I don't really hate any conventions. Or rather, the conventions I went to and disliked, I never really liked in the first place and only went for friends or guests. I had started to dislike AX, but then I took an unintentional hiatus from it, and coming back this year was absolutely amazing (though I'm not sure I'd ever go if I wasn't working, at this point). I guess I can talk about what makes me dislike a convention, though. Rude staff, uncontrolled attendees (think people screaming down hallways and running into people, unorganized/late events for bad reasons (staff not being on top of their shit, mostly). These, of course, happen all the time, but when it's really noticeable, it just gives the entire con a bad feel. For example, at a small con, you're much more likely to see the screaming fans who will tackle you to the ground, just because there are fewer people around - at a larger con, they're easier to avoid, so fewer encounters overall tend to happen. 

10. Describe an adventure or challenge you’ve had at a convention, preferably related to cosplay.

Ahaha. Directly related to cosplay? Maybe the time at Comiket we decided to cosplay (SERIOUSLY NOT THE BEST IDEA) and we were trying to find the cosplayer pens and accidentally wandered towards the exit and had a couple staffers chase us down because we couldn't exit Big Sight in costume. So finding the pens, and then eventually getting situated was sort of an adventure; I never really got to eat; the year we went, gaijin in Hetalia cosplay was a huge draw, so we'd bought onigiri, and I got an opportunity to shove a bite of it in but that was it. 

There's also the time we walked four miles to Denny's. Not purposefully. Not really.

Snowpocalypse 2010? I guess that was an adventure and a challenge.

30 day Convention Meme Days 1-5

It's been a while since I've done any text memes (still kind of easing back into the swing of tumblr), but this seems like a good one. I'll do it in 5-day chunks because obligations and I are not mixing right now.

1. What was your first convention? What was the first convention that you cosplayed to?

My first convention was Anime Destiny 2005. I actually cosplayed to this as well, but it was a closet cosplay of Subaru Sumeragi that we don't talk about. It was a tiny, tiny convention run by the UC Berkeley anime club (that is actually still going on!), and it was actually really fun even though I had no idea what I was doing. Fanime 2006 was my first larger con, where I cosplayed Mamma Elric (more closet cosplay, oops).

2. When and why did you decide to start attending conventions? And cosplaying? 

I started attending conventions because I was the president of my school's anime club and was always looking for opportunities for us to hang out and such. Conventions seemed like a fun, new thing. Cosplaying just went hand-in-hand with conventions for me, so it just felt strange not to have a costume if I knew I was going. It was a declaration of my fandoms and my love of characters, and an easy way to dress up.

3. What is your favorite convention that you’ve been to so far?

Fanime. Hands down, Fanime will be my forever con. Even if this year was a mess, with the construction, people's problems getting to the con and at the con, convention running awkwardness and such, it's still my home con. It's a great con to see people at, and because it's all fan-run and sponsored, there's usually a wider variety of panels and unique showings, even if they don't have all of the industry things other large cons do. 

4. What is a convention you would like to attend but have yet to?

DragonCon and the con Yaso was telling me about that has a water park and zoo in the hotel. OOPS. Also San Diego Comic Con.

5. What is the closest convention (distance-wise) that you’ve attended and what was the furthest?

Closet convention is possibly a tie between Anime Destiny and Tora Con. Tora Con was about four miles away from my university, but it's nowhere close to where I am these days, and I would never go back. Furthest I've attended was Comiket (the cosplay conventions I attended while living in Japan don't count, because I went home to my apartment afterwards), even if it was part of a larger trip, the main focus was Comiket.
