        “ h i ! “          bubbly loud voice cuts quite clearly through the background music playing softly throughout the store,    an unwavering cheerfulness radiating from her smile like warmth from the sun,        “ welcome to b.b coffee !    um --- - gosh, um    d-do you want to try the uh,  one of the pastries ?    on the house ! '

      “ you know,   i’m really thinking that i’m getting the hang of this you know. “ seraphine stated,    the smile on her lips playing softly,   “   has anyone ever told you what a great teacher you are, link ? “

               Seraphine really appreciated any help family friends offered to her on the surface world ;    perhaps she was over her head,   incredibly naive about how everything worked up here.   But even when she felt like she couldn’t handle it,          she felt that if she conveyed that to anyone, she would suddenly undermine all of the work she campaigned for for the past year.          So it became not uncommon for the teal haired young woman to come knock at roy’s door,     a small bag in her hand, and with a slight heave in her breath.

          ‘   i really don’t mean to intrude;        but could i stay here for an hour…. Twenty four even? ‘

        seraphine had been staring at the menu for around 5 minutes now ; trying to make heads and tails from the italian looking names scattered on the board above the barista’s.   embarrassingly, she had to keep motioning for others to go in front of her, trying to piece together what people were ordering.   she glanced over to the woman next to her,    her tone hesitant as she began,    ‘ so do you have -- any recommendations on the menu ? ‘

      ‘ don’t those ducks look so peaceful ? ‘  on a rare day off, melodie enjoyed visiting the local park to just be. read a book, give some of the stale pastries to a duck.    ‘ i’d love to be a duck, only if just for a day. to just ,,, quack, get given free bread --    a dream --  ‘

                 it was almost closing time,       and there was no better way to wind down the night than doing a final clean of the tables. with barely anyone in her half of the store to distract her,   she could spend her few moments practising her balancing act of four trays filled with cups, and plates, of varying states of being finished.       the sound of the stores bell opening sent her in a panic to get to the bar, twisting over her own foot in the process, sending herself skidding across the floor and drinks flying through the air.                 so much for super powers.

   with her head face down to the marble she could barely murmur,   ‘ if you give me a minute i will get right to you !’
