I see it is anon reveal time! Hiii, hello! 'tis I, red terracotta anon a.k.a orphancrow a.k.a Lex! Someone did get my fic tied to my anon, but no one guessed my AO3 this year. This is what I was doing Saturday night in case anyone wasn't sure what I'd written:

Great show, btw. Loved it so so much. Haven't seen them live since 2004 when i saw The Island with some school friends. My heart was very happy when I was making my way home afterwards. <3

So yes, I wrote three fics this year! I wrote 'A Change Of Mind', 'The Island' and 'Past Mistakes'. Only one of those I talked about, albeit obliquely, partly because irl, and partly because I like making people work to guess me. I never bother really trying to disguise my writing style, I just focus on the story I want to tell.

I will say, when i came up with the idea for 'The Island', I knew the circles of Hermitcraft fans, and people who had seen and loved Lano & Woodley's The Island was basically something that only included me. And I was fine with that. I was having too much fun with it to care about whether it might be popular or not. It just gave me an excuse to watch The Island many, many times so I could make sure I was writing enough of the core story elements to make it work.

But honestly, it just came from wanting to write an Exile AU and that led to 'what if I wrote Exile AU but with the plot of The Island' and here we are.

I do think you should all watch The Island though, and then go back and reread my fic. It'll give you so many more layers of fun and enjoyment as well, and it's a really great show. It's so good. I'll never tire of watching it.

As for 'A Change Of Mind', well. I've wanted to write a Hermitcraft/Prisoner crossover for ages, ever since the Permit Office stuff happened. I never watched Severence, but I have seen The Prisoner multiple times. It's so good. It rewired my brain. And I came up with this idea and wanted to see if I could make it work, and I think it did!

Finally, 'Past Mistakes' was a quick n dirty fic I wrote in like the last hour of the collection being opened, bc I was like, I have to do my daily writing anyway, and since the minimum wordcount is so low, I might be able to make something work and throw in a third fic. And lo, I made it work lol. For such a short fic, it gave me many thinky thoughts that are still rattling around in my brain, so. There may be more on that particular topic.

Also, finally, I made this one graphic to sum up all my fics this year, bc the only fic I planned to write was The Island, so the others were a bonus. And it's just the most insane coincidence that at the start of s1e6 of The Adventures of Lano & Woodley, there's a small clip from ep 1 of The Prisoner playing on the TVs in the store. Insane. (It's from about 40mins in. Yes I found the clip bc I'm Just Like That.) But it also means I can make this:

i was both blue orchid and 🧙🔍anons :D

witchfinder was my first one, but i wanted to do it in character, and when i wanted to reply to the writing advice thing i didn't wanna do it in character so i created blue orchid, and ran with that lol. :D

i still wanna do the witch trial fic tho, I just got stuck on the tone and the way I wanted it to play out. It was either going to end up very silly, or just too formal, and I couldn't balance it, so I did the Renberos fic instead as a quick thing I could submit instead.

firewatch anon guessed my dwarf fic correctly though! I had one win! :D no other commenters got it right tho, ig my relative quietness and obfuscation worked. idk if anyone guessed me in the form though, but yes. good times, fellow writers! can't wait for next year to do this all over again. :D

i wanted to write more, and my anon name was picked based on my initial idea but i couldn't get it to work in the time i had so. I went with other ideas. :D

Oh hey, looks like my ask finally got through. Tumblr fixed that thing at least. Anyway, yeah, I wrote seven fics lol, I got a bit carried away. XD i finished my first four so early on I had too much time to myself and I just kept thinking like, why not add another? while I was waiting for the event to end. also I’m Australian, which is why I wasn’t gonna reveal my location bc it would give me away.

yknow this is actually a pretty diverse array of people. like i mentioned, im american so i don’t really provide much to the pool,,,

but it’s cool that we’ve got dutch, australian, new zealander, and canadian authors (amongst others)!!
