was asleep as everybody revealed themselves, but hellohello! it's I 🐍 anon aka the author of the two Mumbo centric fics .-- .. -. --. ... and I devour the smoke that erupts from all exhaust starshapedballoon!!

i expected the morse code fic to be guessed as 🐍 anon since i talked about it, and one person [in the comments] managed to guess who i was behind that as well! i think a big give away is how i tag fics and how i author note, but I'm surprised the other fic went unguessed in the comments as I've actually talked about it before to some ppl in this event!!

Well, I suppose I can reveal myself now: I was the anonymous author "Hot Chocolate." I’m the one who wrote the hockey fiction; it was actually quite fun, even if I did take some liberties with the sport. Mod Clarent, you really nailed it.

I see it is anon reveal time! Hiii, hello! 'tis I, red terracotta anon a.k.a orphancrow a.k.a Lex! Someone did get my fic tied to my anon, but no one guessed my AO3 this year. This is what I was doing Saturday night in case anyone wasn't sure what I'd written:

Great show, btw. Loved it so so much. Haven't seen them live since 2004 when i saw The Island with some school friends. My heart was very happy when I was making my way home afterwards. <3

So yes, I wrote three fics this year! I wrote 'A Change Of Mind', 'The Island' and 'Past Mistakes'. Only one of those I talked about, albeit obliquely, partly because irl, and partly because I like making people work to guess me. I never bother really trying to disguise my writing style, I just focus on the story I want to tell.

I will say, when i came up with the idea for 'The Island', I knew the circles of Hermitcraft fans, and people who had seen and loved Lano & Woodley's The Island was basically something that only included me. And I was fine with that. I was having too much fun with it to care about whether it might be popular or not. It just gave me an excuse to watch The Island many, many times so I could make sure I was writing enough of the core story elements to make it work.

But honestly, it just came from wanting to write an Exile AU and that led to 'what if I wrote Exile AU but with the plot of The Island' and here we are.

I do think you should all watch The Island though, and then go back and reread my fic. It'll give you so many more layers of fun and enjoyment as well, and it's a really great show. It's so good. I'll never tire of watching it.

As for 'A Change Of Mind', well. I've wanted to write a Hermitcraft/Prisoner crossover for ages, ever since the Permit Office stuff happened. I never watched Severence, but I have seen The Prisoner multiple times. It's so good. It rewired my brain. And I came up with this idea and wanted to see if I could make it work, and I think it did!

Finally, 'Past Mistakes' was a quick n dirty fic I wrote in like the last hour of the collection being opened, bc I was like, I have to do my daily writing anyway, and since the minimum wordcount is so low, I might be able to make something work and throw in a third fic. And lo, I made it work lol. For such a short fic, it gave me many thinky thoughts that are still rattling around in my brain, so. There may be more on that particular topic.

Also, finally, I made this one graphic to sum up all my fics this year, bc the only fic I planned to write was The Island, so the others were a bonus. And it's just the most insane coincidence that at the start of s1e6 of The Adventures of Lano & Woodley, there's a small clip from ep 1 of The Prisoner playing on the TVs in the store. Insane. (It's from about 40mins in. Yes I found the clip bc I'm Just Like That.) But it also means I can make this:

Alas, nobody discovered me!

Hi, I’m Mal.

I was the author for both of the Rencleo works (Half Moon’s Rest and Sweet Talker) as well as Everything is Fine :)

Rencleo is my partner and I’s favorite rarepair, so I thought I’d make use of the event as an excuse to write some more pieces for them!

My anon callsign was also a reference to another Rencleo fic I wrote for my partner for Hanukkah, titled Gardenias and Pine. I put it onto anon while the event was going on in case anyone tried to see if authors from the event had written Rencleo before.

This event was fun! I may have joined pretty last-minute, but I’m proud of what I managed to get done! And I made a doodle page for Sweet Talker as well-

(dashes onstage for the dramatic unmasking moment after probably most of the audience has gone home because somehow for the third time out of the four total events I was again away for reveals weekend)

And so, it was I, the Bad Dreams anon!

In the end, the dreams I shared came together to overcome the nightmare, the light of the waking world bringing more ideas to replace what I originally felt would be the core, indeed I was rushed at the end and I wish I had given myself more time to think of a true ending... but hey that one segment based on my "The Face" dream that really inspired me to go for this was still pretty crazy right? (take this as one of those kind of spoilery trailers lol, but there's still plenty of entire stories in it I have not even hinted at here)

tfw you write a silly little line about how they tried to brush it off as pareidolia at first and then look out of the window at a random wooden plank now darkened by rain and see that three circles in that exact configuration have been there all along. literally right behind me. :)

and, I wonder, did anyone get the hint? A subtle one perhaps given that I still haven't really interacted with anyone much, but take a close look at my profile picture. Bad Dreams is the ability of Darkrai.
