Darkness often clouded Ezra’s mind, compelling him to act out of recklessness or district his mind to forget about how he truly felt about himself. Drinking, doing drugs, having sex, etc. were his ways of coping with the actual reality of his world. He had everything - the looks, money, and security.
Ezra’s eyes were still adjusting to the light from the outside shining through the windows. He was in a bed, and he prayed to God that it wasn’t some random guy he hooked up with. He could still feel the cloth from his shirt and his pants were on so that was a good sign.
“Fucking hell.” The pain from his head finally hit him as he rose from the bed he was in. It didn’t take him long to recognize the person who was near him and he quickly sat up in the bed.
This happened a lot, and usually he just left but the person he saw put a smile to his face. “Hey, J. I’m glad to see you.” He did a double take. “Are you reading right now? Jesus christ, you’re adorable.” Ezra used the bottom of his shirt to rub the top of his head. “I know I probably did some dumb shit last night, I don’t remember anything past...walking in.”
