jalen was halfway through laughing at one of his teammates completely missing a drake verse when he noticed somebody hovering suspiciously close to the karaoke sign-up sheet. immediately, his grin widened. "nah," he said, pointing at them from across the bar like he'd just caught a crime happening in real time. "don't start looking at that clipboard unless you serious 'cause if you sign up," he added, nodding toward the stage where somebody was aggressively off-key, "you gotta commit. none of that shy halfway singing. if you embarrass yourself, you do it confidently."

where: the dugout

jalen caught sight of savannah near the edge of the crowd and immediately looked less interested in literally everything else happening around him, which was impressive considering somebody was currently scream singing taylor swift three feet away. a grin pulled at his mouth as he walked over, stopping close enough for his voice to stay low between them. "there you are," he said easily. "thought your cheer captain instincts would've had you up there organizing this disaster by now."

"nah, see, this is exactly why i play football," he said, shaking his head as somebody missed an entire verse with unbelievable confidence. "helmets, crowd noise, and significantly less opportunities for this kinda humiliation." he shifted his attention, grin easing slightly when he spotted vivienne. "you gettin' good footage of all this?" he asked, nodding toward the disaster unfolding by the karaoke machine.
