Why do grocery stores insist you buy an entire pack of celery? What kind of rabbit demon do you think I am that I can consume an entire bag of water sticks that are like eating crunchy hair. I need ONE for for what I’m cooking, please, I’m begging for celery singles in my area

Anybody have advice on how to tell how accurate a meat thermometer is?

We have 2 of them except they can register up to a 30°F difference--one will say 130°F and the other 160°F.

Both of them are the kind you stick in the meat, and both are oven-safe, and are the sort with numbers and lines and a moving needle (so analog, not digital). One starts at 120°F, the other at 140°F so I can't do any kind of test that would require seeing them correctly measure anything lower than that.

I have absolutely no idea which is correct... Or if both are wrong. :/

Anyone else have that problem where every single one of your recipes is made for a family so like you try to make yourself something to eat and always end up making too much?

Like fuckkkkkk I just wanted to make lunch not dinner for the family gathering what is wrong with me? I honestly don't know how I'd do without a freezer with my recipes.

And be for its said no I can't just half the recipie because then certain things would be too strong or weak making a recipe larger is easy making it smaller is hell so much trial and error it's like inventing a new recipe on its own.

Swear smoke detectors need a "I'm cooking and it's fucking steam" button that you can use to silence it for like 10 minutes or so while everything disperses and I'm not left waving a towel and opening windows frantically trying to get the thing to shut up. It's late and my neighbours are probably sleeping like responsible adults and not feral ADD gremlins that just remembered they A) don't have a work lunch for tomorrow and B) need to cook that huge sale pack of chicken before it spoils, so now I'm making roast chicken and soup stock at midnight.

And before anyone says turn on the vent hood/fans etc, my apartment has no such sensible luxuries, unfortunately.
