Another CSD 2 Programming Update (2/27/17)
Things are still goin’ fast! Now that I’ve moved onto the programming side of things I’m getting a feel for how long the rest of the game is going to take me. Still need another week of solid codin’ to get my codin’ legs with Game Maker Studio 2, but so far, like the last update, I continue to be hugely impressed with the software. It absolutely cuts down my time in coding and is just infinitely better all around. I’m extremely excited that this is going to be my platform of choice for my next games. It’s just so dang good!
Anyways, I am briefly stopping coding to do an update before I get back in, as I want to meet my March 31st deadline of having all foods programmed in. Once that is done, I start finalizing all UI aspects, then do a second pass on all foods to add recipes and polish them up to be game-ready (adding particle effects, unique sounds, etc.). After that I make the menus and front end and we’re good to go. Still a lot to do, but feels much more manageable, thanks in part to the robust feature set of GMS 2.
I’ll be posting a big update on Steam next week that breaks down the new Chef for Hire mode, then I’ll be radio silent for a month or two until my next big update, where I’ll have...drumroll...a release date! That’s the plan anyways. Plus I hope to start up my programming streams next week! Sorry that I keep delaying it, but honestly I do a lot more much faster off stream, so I want to get further into development before taking some time to do some community stuff. I miss streamin’ but I gotta meet my deadlines to get this game released!
Thanks everyone! Welp, back to work for me!
A moment from my second stream ever. Read those patch notes, kids!

"Bad buzz, the game’s shorthand for a bad review on... Tripadvisor. Or whatever it is the kids do when they're outraged that their artisan soup didn't arrive in literally ten seconds."
