I don't really use tumblr, but years ago I would always come back here for your posts. It was a different time then: hardly anybody knew about Yoko Taro, and anyone I knew who had heard about Nier dismissed it as "that weird Japanese game with the shitty fishing." Your posts were really special; it was one of the rare places on the internet where I could find such genuine excitement about my favorite game, and with excellent analyses to boot. It's great to rediscover you again, in a different time where freaking Nier is popular enough to get a remake.

One of the many unaired segments that was completely filmed involved testing whether a chainsaw could be used to fight off a bear attack, of if the chainsaw would become stuck in the bear’s fur.  

It was decided that Grant Imahara would don a bearsuit and Jamie would perform the experiment. Jamie stayed up all night reinforcing his chainsaw with sharpened unbreakable diamond tips, and he also shaved some of the fur away from the suit.

Jamie was able to cleave cleanly through Grant’s torso in a single blow, tearing fur and flesh to ribbons. Grant collapsed, spilling viscera all over the workshop floor, he was able to utter a single word as his mouth filled with blood: “Busted”.

Concerning the Stan/Saul Goodman video. Fun Fact: Bob Odenkirk, who plays Saul, was the original choice to be the voice of Stan. When he turned the role down, series creator Alex Hirsch became Stan's voice instead.

Wow! I didn’t know that, that’s so cool! I knew that the resemblance they share was too much to be pure coincidence.

As much as I like Alex’s voice for Stan, Bob Odenkirk would have made a great Grunkle, too, for sure. Too bad he didn’t do it.

"Beauty and the Beast" Really Happened!

Did you know there was a real-life "Beauty and the Beast" in the 16th century? The "beast's" name was Pedro Gonzalez; after Pedro was given to France's King Henry II as a gift, his name was Latinized to Petrus Gonsalvus. 

Raised and educated as a nobleman, Petrus was married to a woman named Catherine and they had 7 children. Four of those children were born with Petrus' condition, hypertrichosis (too much hair) and the other three were "normal". 

"La Belle et la Bete", written by Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve, is the first published version of the Beauty and the Beast tale (1740).
