Just wanted to say- phenomenal work on the comic. Black 2 was my favorite game growing up, so seeing someone hit the echoes from that so nicely is great. Unova- and N and the protag's story in particular always struck me as unique b/c we actually get to see the aftermath- see the old protag's empty house. Find N deep in the ruins of the castle, still, deep down, wondering about what happened back then. I dig some melancholy- and you've captured those vibes well. (Plus your N's super cute, so...)
GOD ain't it?? I still kick myself that I couldn't get into BW/2 when they were released - the games just didn't grab me at first because I was tiring of the pokemon formula at the time. Really, I have the disappointment that was SwSh to thank, because it got people talking about how good Gen V was and that is what got me to finally give these games a fair shot.
Melancholy is such a good way to put it, though? These characters deserve a chance to grow up and heal, and to be sappy, I think they have the opportunity to understand each other in a way that no one else in their peer group is really able to. There's this sense of responsibility and being failed by the adults around them; this attempt to process what happened and make the best of it that I really enjoy. Especially when you compare Hilda's experience to Rosa's?? Rosa gets to have this great adventure where she becomes a movie star and participates in a fashion show and gets business opportunities and then saves the region. Hilda gets a weird stalker and gets shot out of a cannon into a wall lmao
