Battle Action No. 261, dated 5 April 1980. Cooley's Gun cover and interior art by Geoff Campion. Something I had forgotten appears in this strip when Cooley is having a 'duel' with a Germany machine gun team. He refers to their MG 42 as a 'Spandau'. This was also the nickname given by the allies to the MG 34 and earlier machine guns.
The origin of this nickname probably dates back to WW1 and the MG 08, a forerunner of the MG 42, which had been made at the Spandau Arsenal, the name of which was stamped on the gun. As many know a similar 'misnaming' arose with the MP38/MP40 being called the Schmeisser by the allies over a name stamped on the magazine.
