If I was a writer for the sinking city you would have gotten hit scenes such as:

- graham reading a newspaper in his gazebo, flipping off the throgmorton mansion the entire time

- charles chasing a cat shrimp

- a deep and thoughtful scene of charles reminiscing on his cyclops crew

- charles interrupting a redemption church service on accident and instead of it devolving into a fight everyone looks at him with intense and palpable judgement

- charles gets to slap someone

- usha makeover montage where she tries on cute outfits but they're all tinged with seawater and she ROCKS it

- you get to visit an oakmont nightclub in full swing, jazz band and all

I want to write a fic about charles's connection to the sea

Like, he chose to be a navy diver for a reason. Back in that time?? When diving equipment was new and it was a heavy metal suit? He must really love the ocean or have zero fear or both. Then, he bonds with his crew, they're his brothers, he's on top of the world while exploring the bottom of it. And /then/ the cyclops sinks, and he's the sole survivor.

Was he the only person to make it to the island? Or was he the only one who had the strength to drag himself over the rocks and live? When rescue arrived, it was a boat. He had to trust the ocean again to save him, and might have sailed right over the cyclops. I know I would have been thinking about that the whole time if I were him, oh man

Then the hallucinations (of the ocean), he must go to Oakmont (in a boat), the events of the game happen and he has to dive again. For the first time since before his brothers went down he has to put on that helmet again. And again, and again. And he finds out he has a death warrant and surprise it's in the ocean. Do you think as he was falling off that cliff he felt like he was joining his cyclops family at the bottom of the sea? Did that make it easier or harder? The ocean kept saving him and trying to kill him, almost as alternately as the changing of the tides, and regardless of which way it was going Charles always trusted it. He always dove back in. What the fuck is up with this guy I want to see every nook and cranny in his waterlogged brain holy SHIT you guys

you can prevent charles pulling a gun on himself when he starts to lose his sanity if you make him hold something else. I see him start to stumble and grab his head and I say "woah nelly!" and make him juggle the first aid kit and a bear trap until he calms down 🧡

One thing about Oakmont is that allll those bastards are HYPOCRITES. they'll be up in your face making weird noises or yammering about the voices or walking around covered in blood but ohhh no as soon as you pull out the wylebeast blaster 2000 YOU'RE the freak

graham carpenter and robert throgmorton living right across from each other has GOT to have led to some of the fussiest neighbor rivalries in Oakmont history. Two unbelievably rich queens duking it out for the crown while having to keep up social niceties sounds like an extra layer of nightmare on top of the city collapsing into the sea

The game takes place in the 1920's and Charles is in his 30s. Charles is a 90's baby.
