If you weren't already aware that ICE is full of lies around who they're deporting...
Abel lives in a part of Colorado with no public transit. To feed his family, he has to drive. He has been stopped for driving without a license before, and after a couple of those incidents- the license Colorado refused to issue because of his immigration status is considered suspended (how is a license that didn't exist suspended?). He then ended up being arrested for driving without a license, and now faces deportation.
ICE is trying to deport him for feeding and caring for his family.
While Abel is in deportation for not having a license, his court date came the morning after Governor Hickenlooper signed SB-251 into law, allowing undocumented folks in Colorado to access drivers licenses.
Abel received a continuance today- but he deserves prosecutorial discretion. We need to press ICE to make sure that happens: http://action.dreamactivist.org/colorado/abel/
We'll be outside the immigration court at 7:45am. If you're in Denver, come down and join us at the courthouse on 17th and California for an early morning rally. Some of us will be going inside with Imelda. We have petitions going to ICE, contacts with Senators and Congresspeople. Now we just need to make ICE back the fuck down.
