Summary:
Weeks after the clones are freed from the dangers of DYAD and Neolution, Cosima and Delphine are thrown into adjusting to normal lives where being together is no longer as difficult as wizard chess. Though, it's everything they've wanted, they now have to face all the questions and answers there was never time for before.
For the Dare to Write Challenge, some quick fluff.
Prompt: burning clothes in the backyard
----
âI swear I did this in high school once...â Cosima said, placing the last of their old garments into the steel barrel. âAlthough there might have been some polaroids and diaries in there, too...â
She reached into the barrel and tossed the clothing around, creating space. A jumble of colours and textures swirled around her arm.
âYes. One of those dramatic things Americans do.â
The voice was close, soft - now muffled as Cosima stuck her head into the bin, both arms plunging into the mixture of fabrics. Her dreadlocks fell to the side of her head, resting on the folds of a cream cashmere shirt. Even with the blood rushing into her forehead, a smirk formed.
âSo the rumours are true... the French just skip that whole awkward adolescence thing and go right to cigarettes and unaffected misanthropy?â
There was shuffling, and then an aggressive tap on her bottom. She laughed openly, hands reaching for the sides of the barrel to push herself upright.
She felt a feather-soft kiss at the back of her neck, and paused with her arms resting along the barrel rim. She could pick out the corner of a familiar lab coat poking out between a tangle of silk scarves.
She felt the gentle puff of air next to her ear, and then another kiss at the shell.
Still another, at her jaw.
She smiled, turning her head as Delphine stepped away from her with a barely-audible giggle, shoving her hands into her pockets.
âNo,â she replied, voice as cool and intoxicating as ever. âI did always want one of these, though.â
Cosima looked up with a grin as the blonde flapped her arms up and down, hands still in the pockets of her black leather jacket. Cosima had traded her own red pea coat for a grey winter jacket. She took a moment to admire the taller woman, her curls tucked into a pale blue beanie.
âIt suits you,â Cosima said, preparing to plunge into the barrel again.
Delphine smoothed her hat, tucking away the errant curls along her forehead. âWhat are you looking for?â
Cosima tapped her fingers against the steel, releasing a tiny cough into the crisp air.
âI just want to make sure weâre not about to burn anything important.â
Delphine sighed, and It was only a moment before she grasped Cosimaâs arm, eyes trained on the brunetteâs face.
âCosima, youâre the only thing thatâs important.â
Cosima felt her heart swell, and she grabbed the closest item of clothing - a pair of jeans - and waved it emphatically in the air, exasperated. âHow do peopleâs pants stay up around you?â
A sudden blush surged into Delphineâs cheeks and she crossed her arms, self-conscious, but her smile remained - dimples etched deeply into her cheeks.
âA lab coat is like a shield, really,â she said with a lop-sided grin. In the expanse of sky behind her, the gradual flicker of city lights sprang to life against a purple-blue horizon.
âI find that hard to believe,â Cosima snickered, eyes raking over her girlfriendâs long legs. Delphine offered a soft hum in acknowledgement. By the time the brunetteâs gaze lifted to hers, the air had grown thick. Cosima chewed the inside of her lip, eyes flickering quickly over Delphineâs face.
âFine, youâre right. We donât need any of this stuff... fresh start and all,â Cosima said, shaking the jeans still dangling from her fist.
There was a rattling sound, and a small box fell to the ground.
âHey!â Cosima said, bending to the ground to retrieve the package as Delphineâs eyes rounded. âI thought I smelled these.â
Delphine looked down at the blue package of cigarettes in Cosimaâs hand, lid slightly ajar and aroma wafting into the air.
âItâs my emergency pack,â she offered meekly.
âYour hypocrisy is adorable, Dr. Cormier...â Cosima said, tongue poking teasingly from between her teeth. She tossed the jeans into the barrel and reached into her jacket pocket. âLuckily, I kept some parting favours for myself.â
She produced a plastic bag with two thinly-rolled joints.
Delphine sighed again, swiping the cigarette carton from Cosimaâs loose grip. She retreated momentarily to their vehicle - a small hatchback - and returned with a red canister of gasoline. With the artful precision of a practiced doctor, she poured the gasoline over the clothes in a calculated spiral.
Cosima sniffed and wiped at her nose, stepping away from the barrel.
The blonde lifted a matchbox from her pocket, shaking its contents before sliding it open. With a quick flicker and burst of sulphur, she lit the match, looked briefly at Cosima, and flicked it flame-first into the barrel.
The clothes ignited instantly, flames towering into the darkening sky before they settled into a slow, toxic burn.
Delphine opened the carton of cigarettes, pulling a single cigarette between her fingers.
âWell. Thatâs another piece gone,â she said, looking contentedly toward the clone. Cosima stared into the fire, absentmindedly rolling one of the joints between her fingertips.
âHey,â Delphine whispered. Cosima stirred, turning toward the blonde. Delphine placed the cigarette in her mouth, and looked pointedly at Cosima, then at the fire, then back at Cosima. She took a deliberate step toward the flames.
âYouâre at serious risk of being dramatic right now,â Cosima taunted, watching as the blonde brought her face slowly toward the fire, eyes narrowed against the heat. âNow I know why we had all those rules about the bunsen burners...â
Delphine stepped ever closer, until finally, the end of her cigarette sparked and she stepped back, inhaling.
A light sheen of sweat had gathered across her nose and cheeks. She turned her head away from the clone and blew out the smoke. When she turned back, Cosima was staring at her.
âSo?â Delphine said, tapping the cigarette until the ash fell to the ground. âI notice your pants are still on.â
Cosimaâs grin turned impish, and she quickly closed the space between them, arms wrapping tightly around the blondeâs waist.
âI never thought my night would end in a music video.â
âIt wonât,â Delphine said, her free hand running across the ropes of hair atop Cosimaâs head, thumb brushing against the baby hair at her hairline. The fire crackled on, flames casting flickering shadows at their feet. âItâs going to end in there,â she finished, nodding her head toward their car.
Cosima raised her eyebrows, smile growing. Lifting herself onto her toes, she pulled Delphine in for a kiss. Â //
This...completely ran away from me? Yeah...also, âbeginningsâ because I realize Iâve thought about this too much now that itâs officially a thing. Still, though, the ideas behind it are still kinda hazy to me (I panicked with Delphine, Iâm sorry) and I realize this is only vague Cophine and only vague fluff, so it feels more of a prompt fill for me at this point. But hopefully I can really flesh this out later (on top of all the other projects at the moment...). And thanks v-li-ntprin-ss for the prompt (we really need to discuss this AU in depth now)!
Also, for reference: Ossianderâs hummingbird, lizard, and rabbit forms.
Cosimafelt like skipping. Actually skipping. It was ridiculous and random and yet made all the sense in the world because as she got to her front gate, it was obvious her flowers felt it too. Ceanothus, redbuds, dogwoods, protea, snapdragons, dudleyas, and penstemons alike all seemed to rise a bit higher, bloom a bit brighter, as she brushed past and into her house.
âOssy? Oss, Iâm home!â She spiraled through the greenhouse, searching for the flutter of fiery wings or the flick of blue-yellow ear tufts or the flash of multi-colored scales that gave away her familiar, Ossiander. She found nothing until she got closer to the kitchen and could just hear a familiar pattern of rapid droning.
An Allenâs Hummingbird hovered in the center of her kitchen, humming only when it changed direction, flitting over to the side and then back and then forward and then around to face her as she came in. Groceries drifted through the air all around him, each item on its way to its respective place behind cupboards or inside drawers and Cosima plopped down in one of the chairs to watch.
âHoly shit, Oss, you completely missed it! There was this new girl at the coffee shop today andââ The hummingbird immediately turned back around and away from her.
âIf thatâs your excuse as to why youâre late, donât appear to have the Keckiella shrub even though you promised, and left me to fend for myself in the midst of Helena in her wolf form, then I really donât want to hear about some girl right now.â
Cosima bit her lip, glancing for the first time at her watch. âOh, I...must have been talking with her longer than I thought...well, hey, you know Helena would never hurt you.â
âOn purpose, maybe not.â Ossiander seemed to tremble more than usual, his tongue flicking out in annoyance. âYouâre just lucky Sarah got there and saw I was actually doing something productiveâunlike some peopleâand dragged her away before I got crushed between âwell-intentionedâ paws.â
âActually, youâre the lucky one...â Cosima grinned tentatively, knowing her familiar would at least sense the expression if he didnât turn around to look. âBecause guess who got you some nectar? Itâs Aphrodite grade and everything too!â
Ossianderâs wings faltered slightly, a milk carton pausing just for a second in the air, but after a beat it was clear he had nothing to say and groceries continued floating to their spots.
âI promise I wonât look when you drink.â Cosima swore, raising her hand as the other lay above her heart. âWitchâs honor. Iâll leave it in the sunroom and wonât go in there for an entire day so I donât catch you off guard or anything.â
He scoffed at that. âRight. You. Catch me off guard. Funny.â
âYou know what I mean.â Cosima rolled her eyes as she rifled through her bag and took out a small, honey-colored jar. After opening it and putting it on the table, her head tilted politely toward to the ceiling. âTry it at least, you know you want to. I can tell how thirsty you are. Think of it as a reward for all the great, hard work you did today.â She waited until she could feel a tiny throat vibrating as it worked, the sensation rooted somewhere deep inside her, before smiling (totally not tempted to look and watch a very adorable, grumpy hummingbird swallow a mile a minute). âAtta boy. I got it at the coffeeshop, you know. They sell it now. I should pop in more often, right?â
There was a tiny spluttering noise and then her familiar was hovering angrily just above her head in her line of sight, nectar abandoned for more important things. âYou mean to see that girl? I thought we agreed we werenât going to talk about that.â
âI think you want to think we agreed on that.â Cosima smiled and closed her eyes. âYou really should have seen her, though, Oss. She was just...wow. She was wow.â At that, the soft droning ceased and the hummingbird plopped down as a lizard onto her knee, keeping her from fidgeting too much. His scales bristled, mirroring the agitated vibration of his former wings, but her finger running down his back made him fall still and quiet.
âWhat was she?â
She blinked, smile faltering just slightly. âYou know? I didnât even think to ask...â
âCosima!â
She ducked her head as his tiny claws pinched through to her leg. âLook, I mean, she wasnât human, that was for sure. Her eyes were too bright. A-And she wasnât a fairy or vampire or anything like that. Um...â
âUm, what?â
âI honestly think sheâs some kind of fire elemental, actually.â She bit her lip and he turned to face her, doubtful.
âNo fire elemental is going to work at some independent coffee shop.â
âWhat I thought too.â Cosima nodded and picked him up deftly, tucking him close against her chest as she spiraled around the kitchen with a toothy grin. âBut she had to be one. I swear her eyes were yellow. Like...like bright, Berberis Nevinii yellow. Or maybe more golden like Ribes Aureum in the fall. I donât know it was justâ ...shit, maybe they were blue?â
âFire elementals donât have blue eyes.â
She shrugged. âMaybe Iâm remembering it wrong. Either way, there was that. And then there was this warmness coming fromââ
âWarmth,â
âThatâs what I said,â she bowled over his correction. âAnd so I stood up there at the register and she walked by and it was just...I donât know, like the sun coming out and you could feel it on your skin andââ
âIs this long-winded explanation just you saying she was hot?â
âNo. Well. I mean, she was. Shit, she was. But Iâm talking about actual heat coming off her body and being transferred to mine. When she gave me back my change, the coins were all warm and stuff. And when she handed me my iced latte, the cup already had tons of condensation all over it.â
âWhy would a coffee shop hire a fire elemental during the summer?â
âI dunno,â Cosima shrugged as he squirmed in her hands, and reluctantly put him on the kitchen counter. âBut there she was. And really interesting too. Sheâs French, for one, and I was telling her about the new goldfields growing in, mainly because her hair reminded me of them, andââ
âWait, so she knows youâre a botany witch but you donât know what she is?â
Cosima rolled her eyes. âShit, Oss, you can ask her yourself when she gets here.â
âThatâs not funny, youââ The small lizard had fixed her with a stern glare, tongue flicking out distastefully, before his eyes widened. âHere?!â
âYeah.â Cosima said simply, glancing out the front windows. âShe said sheâd find me after her shift was done, even though I didnât give her my address or anything. Something about it being her peopleâs custom toââ
âCosima, the new batch is just flowering!â
Suddenly she froze in place, shoulders becoming rigid as if she was trying not to react too hysterically. âWell...then I just donât show her the back greenhouse...â
The lizard scampered up and nipped at her wrist. âOh, please. If sheâs anything like the other girls youâve brought around, sheâll want to see everything. Trust me.â
â...shit.â Cosima, wringing her hands and biting her lip, ran out of the kitchen and outside. Side-stepping overgrowing stems and branches, she followed a small cobblestone path through the jungle of flowers and shrubs and bushes that was her backyard, Ossiander as a hummingbird speeding close behind.
âOkay, okay, so I just have to move you guys here and, um...maybe you over here...hmm.â Cosima waved her hands wildly once inside the small shed of a greenhouse, willing sparse shrubs to grow and hide the neat lines of blooming marijuana plants. âOss, keep watch, will you? Not exactly sure when sheâs supposed toââ
âIs that her?â The tremble in his voice was what really caught her attention and she moved over to peer past the windowsill he was perched on. There was a crackling in the air, a live spark dancing on the wind, and Cosima marveled at the way they could still feel it despite being behind glass walls. They could certainly see it plain as day, though. A small flame was floating down the street and stopped at the front gate.
âI damn well hope so! Thatâs so cool,â Cosima laughed and ran outside to meet it before thoughts of forest fires and erupting volcanoes suddenly came to mind and slowed her steps. Trees burning, pastures of red, heat and destruction andâ sacrifice. Just a sacrifice. Because afterwards the soil is more fertile than it ever was before. Calm down, this is going to be fine.
âThis is not the time for optimistic thinking, Cosima.â Ossiander lighted down on her shoulder, his weight comforting despite being so slight. She huffed slightly.
âOf course it is. Just wait âtill you see her.â Gathering her courage, letting a smile spread across her lips again, she kept walking and addressed the small flame. âUm, hi? Delphine? Is thatââ
With a slight eruption like wings unfurling, a gust of warm air passing over Cosimaâs face, the front-gate-guard-dog sunflowers inclining forward, the flame burst into the vague shape of a door and a tall figure stepped out from it.
Yup, thatâs definitely her. See what Iâ Oss? Cosima switched to telepathy the second the approaching womanâs smile beamed into life, knowing full well the manners concerning whispering around, yet not directly to, guests, but her familiar was no longer a hummingbird. A small rabbit clung to her shoulder in his place, shaking slightly, eyes wide, the blue and yellow tufts of his ears hidden as they flattened against his skull. After a minute of shell-shocked entrancement, he scurried to hide in Cosimaâs dreads.
Wow, you havenât been a Pygmy in a while. Everything okay over there, Ossy? She asked with a silent laugh as her feet took her over to open the front gate. There was no reply, just the rising and falling of surprised fur at the back of her neck. I told you, didnât I? Out of this world pretty. Score 1 for Cosima!
âDelphine, hey, glad you found the place!â She greeted with soaring hands as flowers all around her scrambled to follow her cue, bending into a bow as Delphine walked past them.
âI told you I would, didnât I?â Her tone was light and curling and Cosima felt a shiver run up her spine, like deja vu. Although, that might have also been because of the sudden beat of wings underneath her hair. âWas that your familiar I just saw?â
âUh, yup, that was Ossiander. Heâs acting shy right now, though he isnât usually.â Cosima nodded minutely with a stretched smile, trying not to jostle the familiar in question. Come out, Oss, sheâs already noticed you. Hopefully she knows nothing about familiar bonds... The reply came in the form of scales scratching at her skin.
Delphine tilted her head, trying to search out the small animal among Cosimaâs hair. âWhat was he? A rabbit? I didnât get to see, he hid so fast.â She already saw your form too, dammit. No need to choose now, just come out as a Pygmy and suck it up.
âYeah, heââ Bristling and indignant, he darted out onto her shoulder and faced Delphine head on, flicking his ears before shifting slowly into his Mesquite Lizard form, making sure she was watching. Cosimaâs eyes went wide in horror.
âOh. Oh, he can...switch forms, then. Is that typical among your kind?â Delphine, surprised though she was, leaned forward to peer at him curiously. Neither witch nor familiar knew who exactly she talking to.
Cosima felt her heart leap into her throat and struggled to work her way around it. âUm, well, thatâs an interesting...â Ossiander! What the fuck are you thinking?! âI mean, actually, heâs this sort of, uh...â I barely know this girl, you canât justâ
But he wasnât finished. As soon as he was sure Delphine had leaned as far forward as she planned to, he flashed into a hummingbird and darted toward her face, making her jerk back. Cosima almost darted forward herself and pulled him back, but his posture made her hesitate.
His dark eyes bore into Delphineâs as he hovered in all of his burnt orange plumage and glory, beak tilted downward, wings spread out as far as they could in flight. He faced her, hummingbird or not, defiant with a kind of resolution Cosima had never seen in him before, not to this extent. The energy in him was bursting at the seams, like a well-coiled spring, like he was ready to thrust forward again, like he had something to prove.
âSheâs definitely not a fire elemental. Sheâs supposed to be extinct.â
Thanks again v-li-ntprin-ss  for the prompt (which after reading this fic is kinda redundant to post)!
Cosimawrung her hands, unfamiliar nervousness and habitual confidencemaking her more jumpy than usual. She bounced up and down as she waited at the back of the line, checked the time every few seconds uneasily, whispered soft apologies to the laptop in her bag, and wondered why the hell there was so many technical difficulties that seemed to have a higher priority than hers. It had been fifteen minutes, and to her and her comatose laptop, this was getting ridiculous.
Once she was three people away from the front, she focused her sharpest glare to the employee that thought they could justâ Shit...shit, sheâs...holy fuck, I...what am I going to say to her? I have to say something to her. I canât just bring up the weather, I have to...maybe compliment her outfit? That usually...oh wait, sheâs in uniform. A blue polo and lanyard isnât really something you compliment a person on. Typically. Although, on her...dammit Iâm next. What am I doing here again...oh right, my laptop. Fuck, my laptop. Thatâs my in. A terrible one, butâ
âHello, how can I help you today?â French?! French. Sheâs French. Goddammit, I need a better in. Pronto.
âUh, yeah, my laptopâs totally busted.â Cosima was trying desperately not to stare too long, but that golden hair demanded constant attention. Her hands might have been shaking, just a little, and she might have bumped her laptop on the counter as she pulled it from her bag, but she really was trying. Just not quite successfully. âAh, shit, that probably wonât help, uh,â
The tech support lady, the French employee,âCosima peered closerâDelphine, laughed goodnaturedly, and Cosimaâs lips instantly curved upward at the sound. âNo, it probably wonât. What seems to be the matter with it?â
âWell, so, itâs a...funny story, actually.â With the laptop in need of more urgent attention than the very attractive form in front of her, Cosima suddenly realized how stupid it was that she was in there at all. She opened the laptop lid and flipped it around for Delphine to see her shame. âI kinda...well I was doing tons of things at once, right, and then other things kept coming up that I would open in a new tab, and then the laptop started running slow so I figured I just had too many tabs open but when I tried to close them all and just start over it froze. On me. So, yeah.â
Cosima was well aware of Delphineâs wide-eyed gaze, scanning across the top of the screen with a bewildered expression. A few minutes of silence passed and Cosima almost felt like pacing. âThereâs seventy-two tabs open...you had seventy-two...merde.â
âYeah, um,â Cosima pushed up her glasses, chuckled a little, switched her gaze from the floor to the laptop to the ceiling to Delphineâs amber eyes to her hands. âAgain, I was busy, so...think you could fix it? It wouldnât even let me turn it off so I was kinda at a loss, you know?â
âYes...yes, ehm,â Delphine shook her head and closed the laptop before flipping it over. A screwdriver was suddenly whipped into her hands as she started on the bottom control panel and Cosima tried not to laugh. I bet sheâs wearing a toolbelt right now. âIâm going to try removing the battery, let it sit for a while, and then put it back in, essentially forcing the laptop to shut off and restart completely. The hope is that when it will, or if it will, the browser would have stopped running and you start with a fresh page.â
Cosima nodded, considering the laptop as seriously as she could manage, watching Delphineâs hands as she worked. âThat, uh, that sounds pretty simple. I guess I could have done this at home. Sorry.â She glanced up to see Delphine finished and smiling, practically beaming, and she smiled back. But the quiet moment was settling. âItâs always nice to confirm things with a professional, though. Someone like yourself, that is. You sure got a killer lanyard there.â
Delphine laughed again and Cosima silently kept score. âAdvice is certainly useful, but Iâm not really a professional. I only know the straight basics, anything Iâm not sure of I just drop off in someone elseâs hands.â Delphineâs gaze was tipping downward to the laptop again and Cosima cursed the damn boxâs ability to drain attention from her. âThis, for instance, doesnât take much knowledge in computers, just being decent with a screwdriver. Hmm, there we go...â
The two watched as the laptop spluttered back to life with Delphineâs insistent finger on the power button. She leaned back and grinned proudly while Cosima clapped a standing ovation. âThat...wow, very impressive.â Delphine dismissed the compliment with a slight wave of her hand.
âPlease. Whatâs impressive is your ability to keep up seventy-two tabs for however long you did. Or maybe it is your laptopâs endurance I should be commending.â
Cosima tucked the laptop away in her bag and shrugged. âHow about we say both, for the sake of my pride?â
âSettled, then.â Delphine nodded and the two fell back into a soft silence again. I could probably just stand here and stare for an hour or two. And she seems just as willing. Thatâs gotta be encouraâ
Someone cleared their throat from behind them and the two remembered the waiting line with a jerk, hands and expressions and words tilting back into reality. âUm, so, yeah. Thanks for everything. Youâre a real life saver.â
âNot a problem, it was my pleasure.â She was smiling that beaming smile again and Cosima wondered how weird snapping a picture or two would make the situation. âIâd say come back again but that might injure your pride.â
Cosima started backing away, keeping eye contact, letting a laugh linger on her tongue. âA little. But who am I to deny fate? Er, I mean,â Shit, man, stop while youâre still ahead, you sap. âYeah. Bye. Delphine. Um. Bye.â
Once safely outside the store and away from impatient glares, Cosima wondered how quickly one could break their laptop after it just being fixed. A week? Could I push it a bit more? Like two days? Will I look completely incompetent, though? She closed her eyes, leaned against a wall, and remembered that beaming expression, that sun-tipped hair, those precious-metal eyes. Honestly, itâd be worth it.
To say Cosima was hyper-aware of her own infrequent popcorn trips was something of an understatement; her eyes watched the bucket between the two of them like a hawk with: little breaks, extra vigilance, lingering gazes, focused peripherals, all the time every time, each minute and each shift was covered (she wasnât nervous, she wasnât scaredâshe knew what to look out for, she knew how these things went).
Delphine wasnât paying much attention to the movie either, but she was perfectly good at pretending; because what seemed more important was the popcorn she was shoving inside the indents of her paragraph thoughts and the soda she emptied dutifully despite long forgetting which straw was meant for whose lips but most definitely the quietly loud figure next to her, the loudly quiet figure next to her, the presence that was endlessly mystifying, was definitely a priority.
The movie played all around them but the two clearly acted like they were in a different room, one with space to breathe and space to talk and space to give stares as opposed to stealing glances; words were unsaid between them and things had gone unclarified and they were both grasping at answers like the drink straws they were now forced to share until someoneâs hand dangled over the armrest and the otherâs hand came up to meet it and when they drifted together it was suddenly, smile-inducingly obvious to both parties:
This was a date.

Adopting Multiple Puppies
âOh my goodness,â Cosima laughed as one of the puppies tackled her, sprung into her lap, tried desperately to coat her glasses with his tongue, and shoved at his brother whenever he got too close, vying for attention like his life depended on it (maybe it did...), all the while Cosima basked in the spotlight bestowed upon her and undoubtedly fell further in love with every passing second.
She hasnât cursed once since we got here, like she thinks theyâre small children eager to pick up bad words, Delphine thought in amusement as she stroked the last oneâs back, the only girl of the triplets, the only relatively calm one, and wondered absently if this âvisitâ was going to last as quickly as Cosima had promised.
âKenton, youâre going to fall if you try to get on my back and August, why donât you play with Soren instead of messing with your little bro, I mean, come on guys, even out the love here,â she protested though wasnât really complaining, and the wink she gave Delphine made it clear she was just trying to emphasize the fact that they really were in the house of hipster Miniature Australian Shepherd breeders.
âEverything alright over here, I expect,â one of the breeders came from behind Delphineâspeak of the devilâand she nodded politely and smiled politely and continued rubbing Sorenâs back and spoke sweet nothings about each of the happy bundles of fur while Cosima fell over under the weight of two of said bundles of fur herself, laughing and grinning to rival the sun.
âPerfect, just let me know if any decisions are made,â went the reply and at that, Cosima spun to face Delphine; the puppies still pawed at her clothing and sniffed at her bracelets but she was completely still and quiet as her expression began to plead, all of them we have to get all of them theyâre a family we canât split them up, and Delphine soon found herself driving home with four ecstatic puppies packed in the car for the long ride home.
