Coping with Samuel in Supermarket

Problem Solving June 14

Problem: I am bored out of my mind by this thing I'm doing at work. 

Possible solutions:

Work my way through this one module and then take a lunch break

Stop working on this and change tasks for a while

Surf the net all afternoon

Ramifications:

Work my way through this one module and then take a lunch break - that sounds like a good idea. It's only 22 minutes until 1:00, and I can go take a walk at the beach and chill 

Stop working on this and change tasks for a while - I may wait until Monday to finish the other stuff. After lunch I can work on other projects, that might be good

Surf the net all afternoon - this will just make me even more bored

I'm going to take action like I said, above.

The Work & Self Coaching June 11

Thought: I should participate in the research study:

Is it true? I don't know

Absolutely certain it's true: No

Feel with thought? Sad, like I'm letting myself and someone else down

Without the thought? Fine

Turnaround: I shouldn't participate in the research study

The research study should participate in me - yeah, they should make it easier for me

Circumstance: I cancelled on the research study

Thought: I should be going, 

Feeling: Bad/sad/guilty

Action: I'm doing this. But otherwise I'd just feel sad and guilty

Result: Who knows. Eating, beating myself up, bad stuff

Result I want: To feel safe and comfortable and free with my decision

Action to get that result: Do this work and just let it go

Feeling: Confident in my deciion

Thought: I didn't want to make the drive and deal with the logistics, so I know I made the right decision
