This being the season when many folks start sowing I've today been making some of last year's coracle lath off-cuts into garden plant labels. Approx 300mm long x 35mm wide these smoothed strips of ash can be easily written on with chalk, canyon, pencil, paint or permanent marker, and if you put oil or varnish on afterwards they could be used for the same crop over multiple seasons. For the longest lifespan they're best taken out of the ground when the crop is lifted, cleaned of mud and stored in the dry until next you need them. Most of my stock goes to @oxfordwoodrecycling, where a bundle of 5 costs £3.50. . . . . . #madefromwaste #coraclelaths #ashlaths #reclaimedwood #growninthechilterns #growninbritain #ash #vegpatch #allotmentaccessories #growyourownfood #handmade https://www.instagram.com/p/B-AT18qjFDE/?igshid=rv6z9z2u7btq
