It was a beautiful day today, not like Drensi could really tell because he was inside at the moment. He was inside a castle, a throne room to be exact, the hood of his cloak very low over his face to hide what he actually was. The rest of his body was fine, but showing his face would get him into a lot of trouble. Shadows weren’t positively viewed here, even if that Shadow was free, which Drensi was, and only a select few people knew what he was. The best part was, Shadows weren’t allowed to be bodyguards, but the woman who gave him that title didn’t care about rules.
He was standing right next to the throne of a princess who was talking to her subjects, smiling, waving, answering any questions her people might have had and Drensi smiled softly as he watched. Princess Jenna, was her name, and Drensi couldn’t help but stare at her as she spoke with a few giggling children, and he smiled when she smiled. The Princess had long beautiful blonde hair all tied into a loose ponytail, a common hairstyle for a princess, and her eyes were a beautiful brown, more auburn than any other color, her skin fare and her dress was long and had the colors of a sunset.
He stayed there staring, until one of the children the princess was talking to wandered over to Drensi, and his eyes moved down to the little girl. A lot of people thought Sir Drensi was very serious about his job, that not even a child would soften him up, but everybody was completely wrong. Sir Drensi loved kids, and he squatted to one knee as he got eye level to the little girl. The look on her face told him everything, that she knew what he was, but instead of telling everyone what he was, the little girl smiled and gently touched his face, and Drensi smiled back at the little girl, while the Princess giggled behind him. She thought it was cute. The little girl’s father however, was wincing as he watched, he didn’t know how Sir Drensi reacted to children, and almost immediately, the little girl’s father came over and gently pulled her away, as Drensi stood softly, keeping his head pointed downward.
The man shook softly as he gave an embarrassed smile and said, “I’m so sorry, sir. I didn’t know she was bothering you and your work.”
Drensi chuckled softly, and that really surprised the man, he didn’t speak though, he just waved at the little girl, and she waved back, he’d made a new friend, and the father and little girl, and the other children left.
At the next person in line to speak to the Princess, Drensi put on his serious voice, making his voice bounce off the walls of the castle, “Who’s next to speak with the Princess? Come up here and speak clearly!”
