He shouldn’t have left the bar.
That was the only thought that kept looping through Lex’s head, blaming himself for the situation he’d ended up in despite there being no indication of what was going to happen so he never considered that he was in danger in the first place. Not until he ran into a face he recognised from out west. Why they were suddenly now in Eureka of all places, Lex couldn’t understand, but he wasn’t given the luxury of finding out before he was cornered and jumped.
The next thing he knew, he was coming to on a filthy mattress in an abandoned warehouse that smelled like rotten meat, hands bound behind his back and duct tape over his mouth. That was maybe a week ago at his best guess. It was hard to keep track between not seeing the passing day or night and being tortured and beaten.
Finding out where Lex had vanished off to had been far from easy. There were several things Cord was good at, but tracking spells had never been on that list. Which had her reaching out to friends and trading favors to get the location.
Any other time, she would have taken her time, made slow work of killing anyone that dared to touch her family, but she knew Lex. Knew he was already a fairly delicate kid and she didn’t have the time she would have liked. Which meant a single shot to the face when she kicked the door in.
“Lex?” her tone was soft, gentle and questioning as she knelt in front of him, wanting some sort of response before she reached out to touch him.
