"i'm home!" and hopefully early enough in the evening that she can see her baby boy off to bed. she's just come back from her first work trip away from their son since he was born and basically confirmed all anticipated worry and heartbreak from being separated for so long. video calls were a godsend but still couldn't save cecilia from suffering her older sister's whining in the hours in-between. slipping her heels off and tucking them neatly inside the hallway closet, she quickly shuffles deeper inside in search of her boys. "are you both already asleep?"

it's the weight of their son's cries that sits heavy on her chest as she continues to pad around the room, his tiny fists curled at her shirt as if worried that something terrible is about to happen. he has no concept of the why behind their fighting, thankfully, and it's the only blessing cordelia finds in the whole thing. hopefully it doesn't carry through his adulthood. "... yeah, that would be great, thank you." as frustrated as she is right now, cordelia isn't going to reject help and trusts that he can do that in the meantime. "it's okay, sweetheart... everything will be fine. daddy's going to make your bottle, okay? and then we'll get you ready for bed."

"you are the best thing to have ever happened to cecilia - and probably our family, now that i think about it. i'm just thankful we've not scared you off yet. the boys in the family can be a bit icky, if you know what i mean."

"are you sure there's nothing you want to tell me?" the interpretation of the question generally lends itself to more of a guidance in the direction of actually telling her rather than it being a black and white 'yes or no'. even still, she remains patient for as long as she can in order to get some answer to a nagging feeling that's been pestering her over the last few weeks. "you.... shouldn't be scared or worried about telling me things, you know."

"my... head...." the two and only words cordelia can muster that morning as she does her best to greet the sunlight shining through sheer, curtained windows. finds it incredibly difficult to fit together the floating puzzle pieces in her head from last night, a feeling most disorienting. cordelia likes her routine, likes to be in control, and thanks to her best friend's bachelorette party, it seems she's relinquished all of that. to make matters worse, she's not alone — can feel the weight of a much larger being beside her that incites a panic that she can't even fully express with how heavy her body feels right now. "please tell me this is alicia next to me right now. just — anything. give me a hum. a 'yes'. don't make me open my eyes to find out myself."

"it was wrong of me to be such a willing participant, let alone an enthusiastic one. i know that a lot of this conversation will be based on the actions that i took, not necessarily because of your reactions to them." cordelia's need to speak to summer about this stems from her weakness when she's around her and it both pains and annoys her that she's let it go on for so long. a stupid mistake putting all of her eggs in one basket, straying from how she is usually the pragmatic one in these sorts of situations. but when you're already so close to a friend, the slippery slope is an easy one to fall down. knows fully what rowan meant a few weeks back. "the only thing that's changed is the frequency, which is a two-way street. i understand that. it's just becoming too much for me."
