Better things to spend $500 +tax and tip on than that hellacious “margarita pizza” with metal on it:
Find a nice, clean, authentic, mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant.
Buy yourself a decent meal, an agua fresca, and maybe a mixed drink and dessert.
Tip the server.
This has probably set you back $50 or so—and that’s if you brought a date.
Now, send me whatever’s left of that $500 so that I can treat myself once in a while, you pampered ass.
I don't know what's more surprising: that avocado ice cream exists in the first place, or that it's actually good.
It's finally getting into actual veggie season. Ergo, garden bread. And raw beetroot relish.
Not in combination, obviously. I somehow suspect that wouldn't work unless molecular gastronomy were applied. And I'm not quite that good.
Cookies.
To be specific: rose-petal oatmeal cookies with white chocolate chunks. (That's actually good, by the way. I think I know from futzing with oatmeal cookie recipes by now.)
I have oatmeal cookies with rose-petal extract and white chocolate chunks. Even with the remnants of a headache, this makes me happy.
As an experiment of sorts, I have added a small beetroot to my latest loaf of garden bread.
Yeah, it sounds weird. But some of the other ingredients probably sound weird to begin with. We'll see how it turns out.
Thus far, it's turned the batter pink.
So as of today, I have tried two of those "Lester's Fixins" sodas. You know, for science or whatever. (Also, because a BevMo! just opened in town, and I didn't want to just wander around the place like a dweeb and not buy anything. Even if I will be returning some time before New Year's to take advantage of their good price on Barefoot Bubbly. But I digress.)
At any rate, I didn't really like the bacon one; the smokiness was interesting, but it was too sweet. But the sweet corn one is actually good.
Oatmeal trail mix (cherries, cranberries, bittersweet chocolate chips, and smokehouse almonds) cookies = known quantity and success.
Oatmeal sesame butternut squash cookies = unknown quantity. Also success.
The presence or absence of dried goji berries doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
