Observation of Brookfield's chapter 2
The word that comes to mind for me after reading Brookfield’s chapter 2 is platitudes. The core assumptions that Brookfield presents are reasonable and understandable, yet they are also broad and superficial. It is one thing to state that students should be treated as an adult, it is a much more complicated practice to actually do so. Fo me the first question that comes to mind is “how does Brookfield define an adult?”. Maybe in future chapters Brookfield will provide a definition as clarification but for the moment their statements have little substance. I don’t disagree with what Brookfield states, it’s just that Brookfield doesn’t really expound enough to make the core assumptions more than platitudes.
