like he helps her find food or clean water so she doesn't die between tests and he shows her old nooks and crannies where Rattmann was and he tells her where to find unopened cans of beans and such. also he disengaged himself from his management rail multiple times and kept chell company while she slept

Wheatley actually decided to hang out with the rest of the cores (Adventure Core, Fact Core, Space Core)  because they where misfits or dysfunctional and had no one else to go to. He hated it at first, But soon warmed up to them and now they're all a s q u a d.

This isn't too much of a headcanon considering this is almost basically canon but since Wheatley's purpose was to constantly give GLaDOS bad ideas, he is essentially the electronic embodiment of intrusive thoughts.

Closed rp with Core-Wheatley

Freddy strapped himself in his seat and waited for the ship to land. Finally, they were invading something! It seemed like ages since he last left the ship, and he was starting to get affected by cabin fever. 

The ship came to a stop, and Freddy got out with the rest of the watchdogs. He was scouting out the planet, when he noticed a strange muppet-like creature stumbling around. He got his gun ready, and cautiously approached it.
