Gon and Killua for the writing prompt, 24 or 34!! The boooys
Fuck it those are both great, I’m combining them. Have some pining Gon, there’s never enough pining Gon:
“I will if you will” and “It’s not like I missed you or anything”
3 years after the Chairman Election Arc.

He’s taller is Gon’s first thought. He’s even prettier might be his second.
Alluka is talking excitedly, bubbly explaining the town they had visited last week, and Gon loves her but honestly can’t focus on that right now with Killua sitting beside him in their tiny little booth (did they always used to sit this close?). All of a sudden, her voice stops and Gon is painfully aware that she probably asked him a question and oh god, she’s expecting an answer, wasn’t she?
“Uh, yeah!”
Killua looks at him blankly.
Okay, so that wasn’t the right answer.
“...I might have spaced out a little towards the end, Alluka. I’m sorry.”
Alluka, bless her heart, only giggles and shakes her head. “It’s ok! I was asking where you’re heading to next.”
He catches a sideglance from his friend beside him, but Killua quickly returns to sipping his milkshake, feigning nonchalance. Hm. So, Killua was curious too. That was good, he could work with that. Alluka was even giving him an opening. Okay. Here goes.
“Wherever you guys are headed!”
Killua chokes. “R-run that by me again?”
“I’m headed wherever you guys are. I wasn’t joking when I texted you, you know. My nen is back, I’ve trained super hard, and I’m here to make it up to you, Killua.” He holds Killua’s gaze, putting every ounce of honesty and dedication to his eyes in an attempt to make his friend understand he means it.
Alluka joins him, turning her attention to her big brother and waiting for his response.
Killua’s gaze does not waver in the slightest, and here, with his undivided attention, Gon realizes Killua seems a little hesitant. Did he not want to travel together? Then, Killua’s eyes sharpen.
“You mean it?”
Gon nods.
“You really mean it? Because I’m not going to go easy on you, you know. I got my sis to worry about now, and I’m not gonna let you slow us down. It’s dangerous a-and,” he catching Killua stutter a little, the only signal that he isn’t as confident as he lets on, “we don’t have the luxury of staying in one place for too long with Illumi on our tail. And I haven’t forgiven you yet, either! You are paying me back tenfold!”
Gon feels his lip curl. Killua is so cute but he forces the thought down. This was a serious conversation, and he needed to make sure Killua knew how committed he was to this. “I know and I do, I do mean it. I’ll do whatever it takes!”
Killua still won’t look away from him, his eyes searching Gon’s face as if he still doesn’t trust him and ouch, that kinda stings a little because if there was anyone in this world that Killua could trust, he thought it would be him. Of course, that was probably the case before he went and did...that. No, Killua had every right and Gon was going to have to win back that trust. And he was. He was going to, no matter how long it took.
“So, can we? Will you give me another chance, Killua?”
...
“...I will if you will,” Killua mutters, looking away finally and Gon catches a glimpse of pink cheeks and oh god, Killua is too cute-
“What do you mean?” he asks, unable to hold back his grin any longer.
I mean,” Killua huffs, his face schooled back into a nonchalant expression, “I’ll give you another chance if you give me one too. According to my sis, I was partly responsible-”
“-You were-” she cut in.
“Yeah, yeah, I need to communicate better, whatever. The point is, we both are gonna have to work at this a little to get back to...before.”
‘Before’, huh? Back when they had the whole world ahead of them and not a care in the world. Back when he was Killua and Killua was his and that was all either of them needed. Back when...
Back when Killua was his best friend.
But, they couldn’t go back to that, could they? And even if they could-
“I don’t want to go back to before, Killua.” A flash of hurt passes Killua's face and uh oh, he just realized how that sounded- “I mean! It’s not just us anymore, Alluka is with us too, and we’re different and-”
He’s just going to say it.
“-and I want to be even closer, this time. I don’t want us to break up again.”
It’s instantaneous, how fast Killua turns red. He’s choking on nothing at all, the milkshake in front of him long forgotten. Alluka, for her part, seems to be having the time of her life. Then, words fumble out.
“Do you even listen to the things that come out of your mouth, you moron?!”
Gon’s grin gets even wider. “Absolutely.”
“So then, you realize exactly how that sounds to other people?”
“Does it matter?”
“Of course it doe-”
The waitress comes over with a shy smile, and hands Gon the check. “Sorry for interrupting, I’ll just leave this here.” Then, before taking her leave, she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and whispers to the table. “Also, I know it’s none of my business and I apologize for eavesdropping but I just wanted to say your boyfriend seems very sorry and you two make an adorable couple. You should take him back,” she ends with a wink.
“W-we! We aren’t-!” Killua fumbles out a protest, but the waitress is already gone, just as fast as she left. His head falls to the table with a dull thud.
“So?” Gon lays his head on the table as well, smiling when Killua turns towards him, a slight tint of pink to his features and a raised pinky finger. He wraps his own pinky around it and sings out Mito’s favorite chant. “Pinky, pinky bow-bell-”
“-Whoever tells a lie, will sink down to hell,” Killua joins in.
The next part of the promise hangs in the air for a minute, Gon checking Killua for any hint of disagreement. He places their thumbs together. “Seal the promise?”
Killua doesn’t answer, but Gon catches a flash of lightning in the blue of Killuas eyes before lips graze his cheek and, maybe for the first time in his life, Gon doesn’t know what to say. Then, Killua pulls back and those lips return back, facedown, to the table, everything but Killua’s red ears hidden from Gon. “With a kiss,” he mumbles.
Unable to stop it, Gon splits into a grin. “Yeah?”
“Mhm,” Killua says. “You can tag along for as long as you want.”
“So, forever then!” A response that earns him a quick chop to the head. “Ow, that hurt, Killua!”
“Get over it.” Killua stands up from the table and holds out a hand, eye’s closed with a silent invitation. He doesn’t deny Gon’s words.
He grabs Killua’s and curls their fingers together. “Thanks, Killua.”
Killua huffs a bit, already dragging Gon to the front counter with the bill and smiling when Alluka follows his lead, her own face mirroring his and bright blue eyes happy for her brother.
“No big deal. It’s not like I missed you or anything, you know?”
