Okay so, basically in the original pitch for Yellowjackets Misty was supposed to be in love with Jackie instead of Coach Scott. And. That. Makes. Sense.
Because Misty’s whole thing is wanting to be wanted and needed, Jackie needed someone who would stand by her no matter what. (Jackie wouldn’t have died if they kept the mistyjackie plot istg)
They’re very much two sides of the same coin, Misty is an outcast in Wiskayok and Jackie is one in the wilderness. They both desperately needed someone who would understand and care about them.
Jackie also gets very attached to Shauna in a similar way that Misty does to anyone who gives her any attention.

Plus, they’re my two favorite characters and I’ve shipped characters with much less reasoning
