Artist's words: "One of my favourite things about living where I do, in Cornwall and working for myself is, if it's a lovely afternoon, sometimes, I can just go out and enjoy it. Especially June when it's still fairly quiet and you get a cove to yourself. Monday was looking gorgeous so I went for a swim. Walking into the clear water I loved the shapes of the seaweed rocks under the surface and the light patterns on the water."

Cryptid ABCs: Owlman

The Owlman is a flying cryptid sighted in Cornwall England during the 1970s. It has been compared to the American Mothman.

The Owlman is described as a man sized owl with piercing eyes and big talons. One description detailed him as having large, pointed ears. He was frequently seen perched atop the local church, and also was seen flying over the woods.

Owlman was first sighted by two young girls as it hovered above the church steeple. It was also seen by another set of young girls in the woods. The legend continued until 2000, with the last reports being of a loud, owl-like screech in the churchyard at night.

Today, the Owlman has been largely written off as either a large barn owl, or as a hoax entirely.

For a couple of weeks in each year, parts of the normally green and pleasant English countryside are transformed into a vibrant, colorful tapestry. Carpets of bluebells cover woodland floors, drifts of wild orchids abound on chalk down lands, brilliant red poppies spring up around the margins of corn fields and colorful coastal flowers cling tenaciously to windswept cliffs high above the Atlantic Ocean. Even the cultivated landscape often takes on a coat of bright colors – ranging from fields of intense yellow rapeseed to vast acres of blue flax.
